Port Angeles Swim Club’s record-breaking season continues
FEDERAL WAY — Five Port Angeles Swim Club members broke club records at the May Flower Senior Meet, the first long-course swim meet of the season, earlier this month.
The five swimmers set new club records in 12 events.
Kenzie Johnson, age 13, broke six records: 200-meter breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 individual medley, 400 individual medley and 200 freestyle.
Jaine Macias, 15, broke three records: 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley.
Nadia Cole, 12, broke the club’s 100 breaststroke record; Tristin Butler, 16, set a new mark in 100 butterfly; and Carter Juskevich, 17, broke the 200 breaststroke record.
The Port Angeles Swim Club, headed by head coach Jessica Johnson, had multiple other members swim their best times.
Local 155 earns shutout
PORT ANGELES — Local 155 beat Athlete’s Choice 11-0 in five innings in Olympic Junior Babe Ruth baseball action.
Seth Schofield went the distance on the mound for Local in Friday’s contest, allowing only three hits, striking out four and only walking two.
At the plate for Local 155, Montgomery Bullock cracked three hits and scored two runs, Brady Shimko had two doubles and three runs and Tate Gamimer recorded two hits.
Also picking up hits for Local were Schofield, who also scored three runs, and Zeke Rosa, who also scored a run.
Local had a nice defensive effort, logging 11 putouts and making no errors.
Picking up hits for Athlete’s Choice were Ethen Flodstrom and Alex Lamb.
Olympic Labor Council rallies for win
PORT ANGELES — Olympic Labor Council came from behind and then held Paint and Carpet Barn scoreless to win 11-9 in 12U softball play.
Anna Petty earned the win Saturday with relief from Peyton Rudd.
But it was a hitters’ game. Taylor Tolliver, Kaitlynn Lau, Reya Adkins and Anna Brandt all had base hits and Nacia Bohman had a triple for Olympic Labor Council.
For Paint and Carpet Barn, Brooklyn Alton, Destiny Smith, Jada Cargo, Ava Brenkman, Emma Olsen, Savanah Bray and Katlynn Glass each had hits, and Emilee Reid was 2 for 2 with a triple.
