Council bats put up 19 runs in win

PORT ANGELES — Olympic Labor Council defeated PA Power 19-13 in 12U softball Monday.

Peyton Rudd was 4 for 4 at the plate with a double and a home run and Katie Lau was 3 for 3 with a double to lead the victors.

Elizabeth and Lindsey Groff led PA Power’s defense and each had a hit, and Mady Massman hit a solid triple.

Elks drop Hi-Tech

PORT ANGELES — Elks defeated Hi-Tech 7-2 Tuesday in a 12U Cal Ripken baseball game at Lincoln Park.

Connor Bear went 3 for 4 for Elks in Tuesday’s game, including a two-run triple in the sixth inning.

Elks hitters were patient, benefitting from eight walks.

Jaeden Platt hit a solid double and Wyatt Hall and Seth Woods each went 1 for 2 for Elks.

Young pitchers Hunter Wright and Kolten Corey came up big on the mound, each tossing a scoreless inning in relief.

Kayden McVaugh was Hi-Tech’s top hitter, going 2 for 2 with a double.

Tranco in tune

PORT ANGELES — Tranco knocked off Boulevard Wellness 16-7 in 12U majors softball play.

Grace Roening pitched three innings, striking out two.

“Grace began to do more than just pitch tonight,” Tranco coach Christine Halberg said.

“She started to think about where her base runners were and kept them honest on the bags by making strong throws to first and third in between pitches.”

Camille Stensgard struck out the side in the fourth inning for Tranco.

Tranco’s Zoe Smithson had two hits, including an RBI double, and scored twice, while Emi Halberg added two hits with an RBI, two walks and two runs.

Teagan Clark and Aiesha Mathis each scored three times with two walks and a single for Tranco, and Peyton Hefton earned three walks with two runs.

Boulevard’s Cheyenne Zimmer struck out five in four innings on the mound.

Ella Holland singled and scored twice, Tiare Freitas singled and Maddy Cochran had one hit, two walks and scored twice for Boulevard Wellness. Joey Kazlauskas also walked twice and scored a run.

Cottams in charge

PORT ANGELES — The Cottam sisters, pitchers Abbi and Isabelle and catcher Jasmine, combined to help Kiwanis defeat KONP 11-7 in a 16U softball game Monday at Lincoln Park.

Abbi Cottam pitched three innings, leaving the game with a 4-2 lead. Isabelle Cottam relieved her and pitched the remainder of the game.

Jasmine Cottam led Kiwanis with two hits.

Izzy Dennis had two hits and a walk for KONP.
