Lions look good in win over Lanes

PORT ANGELES — Big hits and patience at the plate led Lions to an 11-4 win over Laurel Lanes in youth baseball Monday night.

Lions took the lead on a double by Kai Ferguson in the first inning, scoring Rylan Politika, Peyton King and Elisha Dujue’.

Lions added six more runs in the second inning, thanks to a double by King, a single by Dujue’ and a stretch triple by Cole Beeman.

Five pitchers took the mound for Lions in the win.

Ferguson went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and a run scored. Politika went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored.

Ezra Townsend led Laurel Lanes on the mound, giving up only one hit and striking out four in three innings pitched.

Tranco undefeated

PORT ANGELES — Tranco defeated OLC 16-3 in 12U softball action.

At the plate, Teagan Cleark went 4-4 with a home run and she scored all four times she came up. Zoe Smithson went 3 for 3 with a home run and scored three runs.

Grace Roening went 4 for 4 with two doubles and two singles. Lily Halberg had two singles and scored four times. Abby Frank, Emmalyn Morris and Lillie Commerree all added singles for Tranco as well. Zoe and Lily shared time behind the plate catching and played a significant role in keeping OLC from scoring more runs. They each gunned down four runners.

Pitching duties

Roening pitched two innings, Maryrose Halberg pitched two innings and sister combination Teagan and Teanna Clark shared time pitching in the last inning.

For OLC, Maliah Wilson pitched the entire game. Peyton Rudd lead OLC with her bat going 3 for 3 with a triple, double and home run. Josphine Edginton and Lily Thomas also added base hits for OLC. Clare Bowechop and Cydne Moore both got on base by walks and ended up scoring runs for OLC with aggressive baserunning.

Rudd was solid on defense connecting with first baseman Moore on three different occasions as well as catching two fly balls for outs.

Tranco’s record is now 7-0.
