Athlete’s rallies to beat Forks on last at-bat

PORT ANGELES —Athlete’s Choice put together a six-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Forks 14-13 in Olympic Junior Babe Ruth baseball action.

Brody Merritt led off the frame with a single, and after a strikeout, Forks walked the next three batters to bring in a run.

Tanner Walker then reached base on a fielder’s choice, Dalton Lucas got on base on an error and Ethan Flodstrom laced a double down the left-field line.

A throwing error on the play allowed Flodstrom to come around to score the winning run.

Flodstrom and Merritt both had two hits, including a double and two RBIs apiece.

Also collecting hits for Athlete’s Choice were Eric Emery, Tristan Dodson, Wyatt Hall, Kamron Meadows and Tanner Walker.

The game lasted more than three hours. The teams combined for 22 walks, 18 hits and

eight errors.

Tranco on top

PORT ANGELES — Teagan Clark struck out seven as Tranco defeated Boulevard Wellness 12-2 in a four-inning 12U softball game.

Camille Stensgard came on in relief of Clark in the fourth inning and recorded a strikeout.

Cheyenne Zimmer struck out three for Boulevard in Tuesday’s game.

Collecting base hits for Tranco were Emi Halberg, Grace Roening, Gracie Townsend, Clark and Stensgard.

Emmalyn Morris and Zoe Smithson both scored for Tranco.

“The team was aggressive on the bases and quickly generated runs,” Tranco coach Christine Halberg said.

Zimmer and Natalie Robinson had base hits for Boulevard, and Jenna McGoff and Sarah Cameron scored runs.

Tranco is now 7-1.

Tranco beats Barn

PORT ANGELES — Tranco’s Grace Roening struck out 11 and walked just two in a 5-1 complete-game 12U softball victory against Paint and Carpet Barn.

Emi Halberg went 2 for 2, stole four bases and scored twice for Tranco.

Zoe Smithson homered, and Teagan Clark doubled home a run and scored on a double by Roening.

Lily Halberg walked twice and scored once by a sacrifice fly from Gracie Townsend. Emmalyn Morris also added a hit in last Wednesday’s game.

Roening’s counterpart on the mound, Destiny Smith, also went the distance, recording seven strikeouts.

Ava Brenkman homered for Paint and Carpet Barn.

Hale seals victory

PORT ANGELES — Hi-Tech topped Elks 7-5 in Cal Ripken League baseball action.

John Vaara and Nathan Seelye combined for eight strikeouts on the mound for Hi-Tech.

Tucker Rygaard went 3 for 4 with a double for Hi-Tech, and Wyatt Hale came through with a two-out, bases-loaded double to seal the win.

Tyler Hunter pitched and had a pair of hits for Eagles.
