Shimko hustles Local 155 past Westport

PORT ANGELES — Brady Shimko hustled for two inside-the-park home runs and drove in four runs while scoring three in Local 155’s 15-5 Olympic Junior Babe Ruth win against Westport Marine.

Montgomery Bullock added two hits, three RBIs and scored three runs for Local 155.

Anthony Gregory, Chad Ward, Angelo Ramos and Tate Gamier also had hits for Local 155.

Isaiah Waterhouse and Gamier each logged three innings on the mound for Local 155. Gamier didn’t allow a hit in his time on the hill.

Trenton Teter and Jadon Seibel each had two hits for Westport. Slater Bradley and Casey Spencer also had hits.

Paint beats Jim’s

PORT ANGELES — Paint and Carpet Barn pounded out 14 hits in four innings in a 18-3 12U softball win over Jim’s Pharmacy.

Jada Cargo earned the win on the mound. She also went 3 for 3 at the plate with a double, a walk, two RBIs and three runs.

Brooklyn Alton went 4 for 4 and scored three runs.

Kylie Hutton singled, walked and scored for Jim’s, and teammate Kristina Shumway singled.

Lions take three

PORT ANGELES — With winds gusting at 30 mph, Lions swept past Hi-Tech 5-2 in 12U Cal Ripken play.

Pitching ruled the day for the Lions as Mason Nickovich collected the win, striking out five in three innings of work.

Eli Cyr picked up the save, striking out eight of the 11 batters he faced.

Drew Clark and Michael Soule paced Lions on offense, each going 2 for 2. Derek Sparks also drove in two runs.

Kamron Meadows pitched well for Hi-Tech.

Last week, Lions edged Eagles 1-0 in a pitchers duel between Lions’ Nickovich and Eli Cyr and Eagles’ Sean Hanrahan.

Lions scored the game’s lone run when Naaman McGuffey singled in the top of the third, stole second and was advanced to third by a Derek Sparks single before stealing home on a passed ball.

Nickovich and Eli Cyr combined to strike out twelve Eagles batters while limiting them to two hits.

Hanrahan went the distance for Eagles, allowing one run on seven hits by McGuffey, Sparks, Clark, Elisha Howard and Dylan Abernathy.

Lions also blasted Local 155 13-0 last Thursday.

Michael Soule, McGuffey and Daniel Cable each had multiple hits.

Isaiah Cox and Kai Ferguson also contributed to the barrage with the first hits of their Lions careers.

Nickovich, Soule and Cyr limited Local to one hit, a single by Thor Olsen.

Eagles claw Lanes

PORT ANGELES — Tanner Price went 4 for 4 at the plate and pitched Eagles to an 8-4 win over Laurel Lanes in 12U Cal Ripken baseball action.

Eagles totaled 15 hits in Friday’s game.

Kellan Garcelons went 3 for 4 at the plate for Eagles.

Laurel Lanes was able to score three runs in a fifth-inning rally but came up short of the win.

Tranco in tune

PORT ANGELES — Tranco rolled past Boulevard Wellness 21-8 in a 12U softball contest.

Aiesha Mathis had three singles and two RBIs for Tranco.

Emi Halberg and Lily Halberg each singled and Teagen Clark had an RBI single for Tranco.

Camille Stensgard hit into a fielder’s choice that scored two runs.

Emi Halberg, Clark and Sage Hunter all scored three runs apiece.

Grace Roening pitched three innings, tallying three strikeouts and allowing two runs for Tranco.

Stensgard struck out two batters in her one inning of work.

Ella Holland was 2 for 2 with a walk for Boulevard.

Sarah Cameron, Tiare Freitas and Cheyenne Zimmer also had hits.

Teams split two

PORT ANGELES —Laurie Smith and Jaden Priest each went 3 for 3 to lead ILWU to a 15-9 win against KONP in 16U softball play.

Smith started game at pitcher for ILWU, tossing three-plus innings in Monday’s game.

Jelena Dewey and Mikayla Ramey finished the game on the mound.

Last Friday, KONP knocked off ILWU 11-2.

Izzy Dennis pitched four innings and allowed two runs.

Summer Olsen pitched the last three innings and allowed no runs.

Makiah Sperry hit a three run home run for KONP, and Jackie Frickle had a triple.
