PORT ANGELES — Next Door Gastropub’s Olympic Avalanche Black eighth-grade girls went 4-0 and captured their division title at the Warehouse Holiday Hoops tournament in Port Angeles this weekend. It was their 14th championship.
In its first game, Olympic Avalanche Black beat the Sequim Wolves 63-21. Emilia Long scored 17, Hannah Reetz scored 16 and Jaida Wood 11. The girls won their second game over Chimacum 59-9, led by Wood with 14, Long with 12, and Reetz and Madison Cooke with 11 each.
The girls went 3-0 in the semifinal by beating the Peninsula Threat 35-18. Camille Stensgard and Long each scored 9, while Wood had seven points and eight rebounds.
In the finals, Olympic Avalanche Black won by beating Olympic Avalanche White 57-28. Long had 18 points, while Stensgard had 16 and Reetz 11.

Dave Logan/for the Peninsula Daily News Port Angeles Park and Rec Dept held its annual Holiday Hoops tournament on Saturday and Sunday in the Port Angeles High School gym and at Stevens Gym. More than 40 teams participated with girls and boys from fourth through eighth grades playing. Dru Clark of the Port Angeles eighth-grade boys’ team looks to drive around defenders from the Drive, a team from Poulsbo.
