YOUTH HOOPS: 60 teams compete in Port Angeles Presidents Day tourney

PORT ANGELES — Sixty teams from all around northwestern Washington in nine divisions competed in last weekend’s Presidents Day Classic.

The event, sponsored by the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department and Red Lion, featured two championship teams from the North Peninsula.

The Port Angeles Green seventh-grade team and Sequim fourth-grade team both won their divisions.

Winners were:

Girls fifth grade

White River/Banks, first; Blaine Dauntless, second; Peninsula Threat, third; Meadowdale Lady Mavs, third; White River Sting/Rohner, fifth; Chimacum Cheetahs.

Championship game: White River Sting/Banks 26, Blaine Dauntless 15

Girls sixth grade

Meadowdale Lady Mavs, first; Sequim, second; Port Angeles Apex, third; Blaine Borderites, third; Bainbridge Roots, fifth; Silverdale Spartans, sixth.

Championship game: Meadowdale Lady Mavs 44, Sequim 14.

Girls seventh grade

Lake Stevens first; Peninsula Threat, second; Meadowdale Lady Mavs, third; Blaine Borderites, third; Bainbridge Roots, fifth; Silverdale Spartans, sixth.

Championship game: Lake Stevens 52, Peninsula Threat 38

Girls eighth grade

Bellingham Basketball Academy, first; White River Sting, second; Sequim Lady Wolves, third; Bainbridge Roots, fourth, Olympic Avalanche White, fifth; Meadowdale Lady Mavs, sixth; Chimacum Cowgirls, seventh.

Championship game: Bellingham Basketball Academy 33, White River Sting 31.

Boys fourth grade

Sequim, first; Forks Thunder, second, Bainbridge Roots, third; White River Sting, third; Port Angeles Green, fifth; Port Angeles White, sixth.

Championship game: Sequim 33, Forks Thunder 30

Boys fifth grade

White River Sting, first; Sequim Wolves, second; Bainbridge Roots, third; White River Sting, third; Port Angeles Green, fifth; Port Angeles White, sixth.

Championship game: White River 48, Sequim 22

Boys sixth grade

Anacortes Seahawks/Von Hagel, first; Bainbridge Roots, second; Anacortes Seahawks/Dunham, third; Sequim Wolves, fourth; Port Angeles Green, fifth; White River Sting, sixth; Port Angeles White, seventh; Anacortes Seahawks Dickison, eighth.

Championship game: Anacortes/VonHagel 40, Bainbridge Roots 16

Boys seventh grade

Port Angeles Green, first; Port Angeles White, second; White River Sting, third, Forks Thunder, fourth; Anacortes Seahawks, fifth; Bainbridge Roots, sixth; Poulsbo DRIVE, seventh; Sequim Wolves, eighth.

Championship game: Port Angeles Green 49, Port Angeles White 35

Boys eighth grade

Bainbridge Roots, first; Forks Thunder, second; Sequim Wolves, third; Anacortes Seahawks, fourth; Port Angeles, fifth; Marysville Swat, sixth; Lake Washington Kangaroos; Arlington Swish.

Championship game: Bainbridge Roots 53, Forks Thunder 51
