YOUTH BASKETBALL: Port Angeles teams shine at tournament

PORT ANGELES — Three Port Angeles teams won their age divisions at the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation’s Competitive Hoops youth basketball tournament this weekend.

The tournament drew teams from as far away as Poulsbo, Puyallup and Ferndale. Several Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Sequim and Forks teams participated.

Winning their divisions were the girls fifth-grade team, Port Angeles Hoopers, who beat Crush Select 32-15.

The Port Angeles White boys’ fifth-grade team won its division, beating Ferndale 38-11. The Port Angeles eighth-grade boys’ team won its division, beating the Sequim Wolves 54-38.

Complete results include:

Boys fourth-grade division: Ferndale Golden Eagles, first; Port Angeles, second; Crush Select, third. No championship game.

Girls fifth-grade division: Port Angeles Hoopers, first; Port Townsend Crush Select, second; Sequim Wolves, third; North Kitsap Elite, fourth. Championship game — Port Angeles Hoopers 32, Crush Select 15.

Boys fifth-grade division: Port Angeles White, first; PFerndale, second; Sequim Wolves, third; Forks Rebels, third; Port Angeles Green, fifth; Crush Select, sixth. Championship game — Port Angeles White 38, Ferndale 11.

Boys sixth-grade division: Peninsula Seahawks (Gig Harbor), first; Port Angeles White, second; Port Angeles Green, third; Crush Select, fourth; Drive Basketball, fifth. No championship game.

Boys seventh-grade division: Ferndale, first; Port Angeles, second; WIT Hoops (Forks), third; Sequim Gold Wolves, fourth; Sequim Purple Wolves, fifth; Drive, sixth; Crush Select, seventh; Rams Hoops (Puyallup), eighth. Championship game — Ferndale 28, Port Angeles 13.

Boys eighth-grade division: Port Angeles, first; Sequim Wolves, second; Drive 8, third; Drive 7, fourth. Championship game — Port Angeles 54, Sequim Wolves 38.
