Swains’ rallies for walkoff win

PORT ANGELES — Swains’ rallied from a six-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Local 155 12-11 in a walkoff Olympic Junior Babe Ruth win Tuesday.

A three-run triple by John Vaara and a two-out, two-run single by Austin Seelye tied the score at 11.

Some heads up base running by Seelye accounted for the winning run.

Matt Mangano was 3 for 4 for Local.

Wellness tops Rx

PORT ANGELES — Cheyenne Zimmer went 3 for 3 with two home runs and struck out four in three innings on the mound to lead Boulevard Wellness to a 13-5 victory over Jim’s Pharmacy in 12U major softball action. Alexis Perry was 1 for 2 and struck out three in two innings.

Big inning a boost

PORT ANGELES — A 14-run fourth inning was the difference as Athlete’s Choice’s rallied from an 8-2 deficit to beat Sequim Co-Op 17-9 in Olympic Junior Babe Ruth action.

Athlete’s Choice batted through the order twice in the inning with hitters finding a way to get on base and record timely hits. Fourteen of the 19 total batters scored in the frame.

Gunnar Volkmann doubled and singled and totaled six RBIs in the big inning.

Hunter Robinson went 3 for 3 at the plate with two singles and a double and scored four runs for Athlete’s, while Wyatt Hall had a single and a double with five RBIs. Kamron Meadows also added a double. Trenton Indelicato and Aaron Edminston added two singles apiece and Brandon Hiser also got a single.

Lions outlast Hi-Tech

PORT ANGELES — Lions snapped a 16-16 tie with Hi-Tech in the top of the eighth with a two out-walk by Brady Groff, a single by Cole Beeman and a two-run triple by Rylan Politika to cap a 5 for 5 game at the plate.

Lions batters totaled 13 hits, including the third home run of the season by Jason Hawes.

Beeman was 3 for 6 with four runs and Groff was 2 for 3 with five runs.

Jensen Wolfe and Max Gagnon added hits for Lions.

Austin Worthington, Hunter Stratford and Josiah Gooding each had multiple hits for Hi-Tech and Samir Walker, Kayden McVaugh, Tucker Rygaard and RJ Cheney also had hits for Hi-Tech.
