WRESTLING ROUNDUP: Forks splits dual meet; Port Townsend falls to Vashon in close match

ELMA — The Forks wrestling team beat Elma 60-12 in a three-way dual with Elma and Montesano.

But, for the first time in eight years, the Spartans were beaten by Montesano 39-31. In that dual, Forks had to forfeit in four weight classes, which spotted the Bulldogs 24 points.

The Spartans actually beat Montesano in six out of 10 matches wrestled and out-pointed the Bulldogs 31-15 in these matches. But the four forfeits were too much to overcome.

Winning their matches by pin against Montesano were Conner Demorest at 106 pounds, Jake Weakley at 132 pounds, Luis Perez (152 pounds) and Hayden Queen (182 pounds). They picked up six points for each of these wins.

Hayden Baker won with a major decision at 170 pounds and picked up four points. Ariel Morales won by decision at 138 pounds for three points.

In the Elma dual, winning their matches by pin were Dalton Kilmer (126 pounds), Weakley (126 pounds), Colton Duncan (145 pounds), Baker (170 pounds), Queen (182 pounds) and Hector Dominguez (220 pounds).

Winning their Elma matches by forfeit were Conner Demorest (106 pounds), Ariel Morales (138 pounds), Luis Perez (152 pounds) and Luis Morales (285 pounds).

The Spartans will next wrestle at the Dream Duals in Spokane on Saturday.
