VASHON — The Forks wrestling team got three first-place finishes at The Rock tournament at Vashon High School this weekend, taking sixth as a team out of 16 at the venue.
Winning their weight classes at the Friday tournament were Walker Rondeau at 132 pounds, Walker Wheeler at 150 pounds and Sloan Tumaua at 285 pounds. Rondeau took first with three straight pins, while Wheeler was the champion of his division after four straight pins. Tumaua won with a pin and two decisions.
Also having a solid finish for Forks was Aiden Ivey, who came in third at 157 pounds. He went 3-1 on the day with a pin and two victories by decision.
Jesus Garcia Dominguez was sixth at 113 pounds. He won two matches, then lost by pin in the semifinals. He lost in the consolation semifinals to Mi Amada Lanphear-Ramirez of East Jefferson by medical forfeit.
Jon Parker Jr. also placed sixth at 190 pounds by going 2-2 on the day.
Forks finished with 127 points. Winning the event was Lake Stevens with 184.
East Jefferson results
East Jefferson finished ninth as a team with 101.5 points.
Grady White at 138 pounds and Manaseh Lanphear-Ramirez at 150 pounds both made it to the championship matches at their respective weights and finished second.
White won three matches with a technical fall and two pins. He was pinned at the very end of his match by Ben Orth of Lakeside, Nine Mile Falls, in the championship match.
Lanphear-Ramirez, meanwhile, won with two technical falls and a pin. He was pinned by Forks’ Wheeler in the championship match.
Mi Amada Lanphear-Ramirez, wrestling against all boys, lost her opening match at 113 pounds, but then won four straight matches, two by pin, to get into the third-place match, where she was narrowly beaten in a 3-1 decision by Braxton Reyes of Lakeside, Nine Mile Falls. She finished fourth.
Rylen Kruse finished fifth at 165 pounds, going 4-3 in a very busy tournament and winning his fifth-place match by pin.
