WRESTLING: Forks cruises to dual-meet victories

FORKS — Forks wrestling won 19 of 20 contested match, 13 of them by pin, to dominate two dual-meet Evergreen League contests at home Wednesday.

The Spartans smashed past Elma 63-9 and blanked Tenino 75-0.

“We are going for our seventh-straight league championship,” Forks coach Bob Wheeler said. “This was a good start.”

Hayden Queen won his two 160-pound matches by pin for the Spartans. Other high-performing Forks wrestlers with two contested wins on the night included Shane Queen (pin and major decision at 195); Brett Moody (pin and major decision at 170); Tristen Pisani (pin and decision at 220) and Luke Dahlgren (pin and decision).

Hayden Baker, Luis Perez, Colton Duncan, Victor Morales, Keith Thompson and Colby Demorest also had wins via pin for Forks and Josh Salazer earned a major decision win for the Spartans.

Forks will wrestle in the Sgt. Norton Memorial Tournament at Rainier High School on Saturday.
