WRESTLING: Forks boys tops at The Berserker

UNIVERSITY PLACE — The Forks boys wrestling team got four first-place finishes and took first place among the boys teams at The Berserker Tournament at Curtis High School on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Forks girls got another first-place finish from Miley Blanton in the girls Berserker Tournament.

Forks tallied 160.5 points, tops among the boys. The Forks girls had 57 points, good for 10th among the girls teams.

The Spartans’ Jesus Garcia Domanguez took first at 113 pounds, taking his championship match in a close 10-9 decision over Jackson Stoops of Tahoma.

Walker Rondeau won at 132 pounds with three pins and a technical fall, while Walker Wheeler took first at 144 pounds with three straight pins.

Defending state champion Sloan Tumaua took first at 285 pounds with three straight pins.

Nate Dahlgren at 190 pounds came in second, winning two matches by pin and losing in the championship match by a 7-2 decision to Jackson Hallett from Bellarmine Prep.

Jon Parker Jr. was second at 175 pounds with two pins. He was pinned in the championship match by Canyon Ringrose of Bellarmine Prep.

Abraham Montealegre was third at 113 pounds, winning four out of five matches, with his only loss to Stoops, who was later beaten by Domanguez.

Mason Leinan at 165 pounds and Aiden Ivey at 157 each had a pair of victories.

Girls

Blanton took first at 120 pounds with two pins. She beat her teammate Peyton Johnson in the championship match with a 10-3 decision. Johnson had a pair of pins to finish second.

Natalie Horejsi was third at 110 pounds with a pin and two decisions and Riley Tjepkema was fourth at 135 with a pair of wins.
