WRESTLING: Forks boys second at River Ridge Classic

LACEY — The Forks wrestling squad got four champions at the River Ridge Rumble this weekend, getting one of its best results of the season with the boys coming in second overall as a team.

Forks nearly won the event, coming in second with 162 points. Shelton ended up edging the Spartans with 164 points.

Winning their weight classes were Walker Rondeau at 132 pounds, Walker Wheeler at 144 pounds and Sloan Tumaua at 285 pounds. Rondeau won with five straight pins, Walker had four straight pins and Tumaua won with two major decisions and two pins.

Also making it to the championship match of his weight class was Nate Dahlgen at 190 pounds. He won three matches by pin and then lost a very close match in the championship by a 4-3 decision to Bradley Eveland of Shelton.

Winning her weight class at 120 pounds was Forks’ Miley Blanton. She took the championship with three pins and an 8-3 decision in four matches. Coming in second was Flora Horejsi at 105 pounds. She won a pair of matches by pin, then was beaten in the title match in a pin by Isabella De Leon of Stadium.

Jesus Garcia Domanguez finished fourth at 113 pounds and Mason Leinan was fourth at 165.

Peyton Johnson was third for the girls at 120 pounds, winning four out of five matches, and Natalie Horejski was fourth at the girls’ 110 class.

Port Angeles results

Also at the River Ridge Rumble, Port Angeles finished 15th with 69 points.

Kolby Helvey had the best meet at 113 pounds, making it to the championship match and finishing second. He won two out of three matches.

Lukas Teague was third at 138 pounds, winning four out of five matches, and Quinn Messersmith was fourth at 215 pounds.

East Jefferson, Sequim

LAKEWOOD — The East Jefferson and Sequim squads competed at the End of Days Classic, with the Wolves finishing 10th and East Jefferson 13th.

Both schools combined to place several wrestlers. Tops was Manaseh Lanphear-Ramirez, who made it to the championship match at 150 pounds. He won by forfeit, pin and a 12-6 decision before getting pinned late in the championship match by Hunter Oswold of White River.

His teammate Grady White finished third at 138 pounds, winning four out of five matches.

For Sequim, Johnny Vilona was third at 126 pounds, also winning four out of five matches. Jayms Violna was third at 144 pounds, starting off with a loss, but then winning three straight matches, including a sudden victory in the third-place match.

James Smith was fourth at 157 pounds.

Sequim finished with 54.5 points, while East Jefferson had 48. Kent Meridian won the meet with 204 points.
