TUKWILA — The Peninsula College women’s soccer team broke through with the game’s lone goal in the 50th minute of a 1-0 shutout win against Bellevue.
The Pirates’ goal came on a Katelyn Raatz through ball into the middle of the Bulldogs box to Alyssa Bertuleit.
Bertuleit was able to put a boot on the ball and send it into the corner for the score.
The sophomore forward is second in scoring for Peninsula with five goals this season. Freshman C.J. Stetser leads the Pirates with six goals on the season.
Peninsula had scoring opportunities in the first half Saturday, but couldn’t push a goal past the Bellevue keeper.
Goalkeeper Kasie Lough was credited with the shutout after stopping one Bulldogs shot.
The Pirates (9-1) host Olympic (4-5-1) at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Men’s game postponed
The Peninsula College men’s soccer team was set to host Bellevue on Friday, but a mechanical breakdown aboard a Washington State Ferry prevented the Bulldogs from making the trip to Port Angeles, postponing the contest.
The game will be rescheduled for a later date.
