PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College women’s basketball team scored 30 points in the first quarter and went into the fourth with a commanding lead in an 85-61 win over Olympic to improve to 4-0 in the North Region.
The Pirates were led by Neah Bay’s Allie Greene, who hit four 3-pointers and scored 20 points. Ciera Tugade Agasiva scored 15 to go with six rebounds and four assists, while Alexa Mackey had 10 points and eight rebounds, and Sequim’s Jelissa Julmist had 10 points and six rebounds. Shania Moananu had five assists and three steals.
In that first quarter, the women shot 68.4 percent (13-for-19) from the floor and made four 3-pointers. They got up 21-3 midway through the first and held a commanding 72-40 lead early in the fourth quarter.
The women had a huge rebounding edge of 48-26 and took 81 shots to Olympic’s 59. Twelve members of the team scored.
With the win, the Pirates moved to a game ahead of three other teams — Shoreline, Edmonds and Bellevue — and improved to 11-2 overall. They next play at Skagit Valley (1-2, 7-10) at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
