WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Peninsula College women roll past Bellevue

13-0 run gives Pirates control

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College seized control with a 13-0 run to open the second quarter and never let loose in a 63-41 NWAC North Division women’s basketball win at home Wednesday.

The Pirates ran their NWAC North Division winning streak to 37 games with the victory.

Baskets by Makena Patricks, Alexa Mackey and Ryana Moss, plus a Moss 3-pointer, gave the Pirates a 28-9 advantage with 7:09 left to play in the second quarter.

Bellevue would come no closer than within 15 points of Peninsula for the remainder of the contest.

Mackey led the way with a double-double, including 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting, 12 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals.

Sequim’s Jelissa Julmist added 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting with five boards, an assist and a steal for the Pirates.

Forks’ Kadie Wood had four points and three rebounds off the bench for Peninsula.

The Pirates host Olympic at 4 p.m. Saturday.
