PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Lefties made just one error in Wednesday night’s game against Ridgefield, but it was a costly two-out error that led to five unearned runs in a 11-3 loss.
A quartet of Lefties’ pitchers allowed just six hits and two walks, but Brock Mayer was touched up for five unearned runs in the sixth.
Meanwhile, the Lefties batters had eight hits and had another eight runners get on base via walks and hit batsmen, but they stranded 13 batters.
Kole Acker started and took the loss. He went four innings, allowed five hits and three earned runs while striking out two.
Drew Pfundt (Capital Univ.) pitched the final two innings, allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out three.
Jeremy Giesegh (Cal State, San Bernardino) remained the hottest batter on the Lefties squad, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored an RBI and two stolen bases, raising his season batting average to .368, seventh in the West Coast League.
Jason Leon (Cal State, Bakersfield) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, maintaining his batting average at .310.
Kosei Suzuki (Frank Phillips College) was 2-for-4 with a double and Colin Spear (Nevada) hit a double.
The Lefties (3-11) played their final game of their Ridgefield series Thursday night after press deadline. Port Angeles begins a three-game series at 6:35 p.m. today at Civic Field against the Kelowna Falcons (5-9), with a chance to move up in the North Division standings.
