VANCOUVER — The West Coast League’s Moss Adams Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by Commissioner Rob Neyer, are Port Angeles Lefties first baseman/outfielder Jeremy Giesegh (Cal State San Bernardino) and Springfield Drifters left-hander Kyle Larsen (uncommitted).
In five games with the Lefties last week, Giesegh reached base 12 times, drove in seven runs, hit two doubles and a triple and stole two bases. He is batting .450 (9-for-20) over his past five games.
Giesegh has shown power, speed and the ability to hit. He is second in the West Coast League in runs batted in with 18, second in home runs with three, fifth in the WCL in batting average at .384 and second in the league in hits with 28. He is also 10th in the WCL in steals with eight. At one point this weekend, he was batting .400 for the season.
Geisegh has eight extra-base hits and 13 walks. His slugging percentage of .603 and his on-base plus slugging percentage of 1.045 are both No. 1 in the WCL for players with more than 45 plate appearances (Giesegh has 86).
Giesegh also has two home runs and six RBIs in four nonleague games this season.
Giesegh, from Upland, Calif., batted .351 in 32 games as a CSUSB sophomore. He had seven doubles and an OPS of .898.
Last week, Larsen went the distance against the Corvallis Knights, allowing only five hits and no walks in a shutout victory against the WCL’s defending champions. Larsen’s outing was the first complete game tossed by a WCL pitcher this summer.
The junior from Hoquiam most recently pitched for Pierce College and is currently uncommitted for this fall.
