WEST COAST LEAGUE: AppleSox rally in the ninth to beat Lefties

The Port Angeles Lefties went into the ninth inning with a lead but an error and wildness in the top of the ninth were their undoing in a 6-5 loss to the Wenatchee AppleSox.

The Lefties made an error, had two wild pitches, two walks and hit a batter in the disastrous ninth as Wenatchee scored three runs on one hit. Only two of Wenatchee’s runs were earned.

Starter Damian Hernandez of the University of California, Riverside, had an excellent game. He went six innings, gave up six hits and one earned run while walking two. He struck out five and left the game with a 5-1 lead.

Roberto Nunez (Embry-Riddle) had his best game of the year, going 3-for-5 with a two-run double in the sixth inning.

Colin Spear (Nevada) had a hit and an RBI, and Kosei Suzuki (Frank Philips College) was 2-for-4. Jeremiah Giesegh (Cal State, San Bernardino) was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI, raising his average to .389.

The game had six errors as weather conditions in the box score were listed as “incredibly windy.”

The Lefties (0-4, 0-6) played Wenatchee Wednesday night after press deadline and wrap up their series against the AppleSox at 6:35 p.m. today.
