VOLLEYBALL: Quilcene finishes fourth at 1B State Tourney

YAKIMA — The Quilcene volleyball team lost its final match at the State 1B Tournament, finishing its sterling season with a 22-2 record, good for fourth in the state.

The Rangers didn’t go down without a fight. Quilcene lost a close match to Almira-Coulee-Hartline 3-2 (26-24, 20-25, 25-18, 12-25, 15-11) Saturday night in the third-fourth place match at the 1B Tournament held at the SunDome in Yakima.

Quilcene, winners of the SeaTac1B League and the Quad-District 1B Tournament, won two matches at State against Odessa-Harrington and Sunnyside Christian.

The Rangers went into the State semifinals undefeated at 22-0, but lost 3-0 to Pomeroy, which went on to the championship match. Oakesdale beat Pomeroy for the state 1B championship.
