PORT ANGELES — Kasey Ulin was officially approved Thursday night as the new boys basketball head coach at Port Angeles High School.
Ulin’s supplemental contract, along with those of the Port Angeles School District’s other winter sports coaches, was approved by the district’s board of directors Thursday at Stevens Middle School.
Ulin scored 1,587 points for Forks High School and holds the record for the highest Class 2A state tournament career scoring average at 26.3 points per game.
Ulin takes over a team that went 12-11 and made the district playoffs last year under Brent Stephens, who resigned in late July after two seasons to become an assistant coach with the Feather River College women’s basketball team.

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles High School appears to have finally picked a head boys basketball coach for the season that begins next week.
Former Forks High School standout and professional basketball player Kasey Ulin is on the agenda for approval as the boys basketball coach at tonight’s school board meeting at Stevens Middle School at 7 p.m.
Ulin recently finished his playing career in Luxembourg. He currently works as a youth coordinator in LaPush, but lives in Port Angeles with his wife and infant daughter.
Ulin interviewed for the Port Angeles coaching job last week, and even met with prospective players Wednesday night, but had to wait until tonight’s school board meeting before having his name presented for official approval.
Basketball practice begins Monday.
