UPDATED — STATE PREP FOOTBALL: Neah Bay runs over Pateros; Quilcene falls to Twin Valley

ABERDEEN — Quilcene’s season came to an end with a 62-34 loss to Twin Valley in the Class 1B state quarterfinals on Saturday night.

Coten Pol injured his ankle in the first quarter and was used sparingly as a ball carrier the rest of the game for the Rangers, but he still managed to gain 188 yards on 11 carries.

Twin Valley earns the prize of moving on to face top-ranked Neah Bay later this week.

POULSBO — Neah Bay’s running game was on point in its state playoff opener, but the Red Devils pass defense left something to be desired in a 78-30 Red Devils victory over Pateros at North Kitsap High School on Saturday.

With the first round win, the defending champs advance to face the winner between the Quilcene and Twin Valley game, set for 7 p.m. Saturday night at Stewart Field in Aberdeen.

Chris Martinez scored four first-half touchdowns for Neah Bay on rushes of 11, 20 and 6 yards and a 27-yard pass from freshman quarterback Rweha Munyagi, as the Red Devils built a 66-22 advantage at halftime.

Martinez finished with 11 carries for 156 yards.

Sophomore Cole Svec had rushing touchdowns of 38 and 44 yards in the first half and ended up finishing the game with eight carries for 194 yards and four rushing scores.

Cameron Buzzell had 3 carries for 84 yards and one TD for Neah Bay.

Neah Bay (10-0) struggled at times in pass defense, allowing Billygoats senior quarterback Mikey Piechalski to find Carlos Ceniceros for seven first-half completions and 165 yards.

Ceniceros scored on catch-and-run touchdowns of 80 and 37 yards as Pateros kept the score respectable for much of the first half.

Piechalski completed 16 of 32 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns for the Billygoats (6-4).
