Track & Field: Port Angeles’ Parker Nickerson, Paige Mason lead Rider boys and girls at Bainbridge meet

East Jefferson freshman Arden Moore wins the 100-meter sprint

BAINBRIDGE — Paced by Parker Nickerson’s wins in the triple jump and the 110-meter hurdles, the Port Angeles boys track and field squad earned a solid second-place finish behind host Bainbridge at a four-team Olympic League meet Thursday.

Nickerson broke his own personal best time in the 110-hurdles, finishing in 16.21 seconds, while reaching 40-03.50 feet in the triple jump. He also was second in the 400 run in 55.14 seconds.

Trevor Martin also picked up a win in the shot put for the Roughriders with a distance of 40-08.50.

Dallas Dunning set a new personal best of 18-06 to win the long jump for Port Angeles.

Port Angeles’ 4×400 relay team of Tanner McLean, Finn Thompson, Easton Dempsey and Kaiden Point finished first in 3:48.08.

East Jefferson athletes also participated, finishing fourth with 18 points.

Reid Martin was the Rivals’ lone event winner, taking the javelin with a throw of 135-10.

In the girls meet, Port Angeles was third with 55.5 points, behind Bremerton’s 65 and Bainbridge with 82.5.

Paige Mason set a personal best distance of 15-feet, 4-inches to win the long jump for the Riders, while teammate Miriam Cobb also broke her own record with a leap of 14-4.25 to finish as runner-up.

Faerin Tait claimed the 200-meter sprint in a personal-best 28.35 seconds and also picked up a second place in the 400 and was third with another new record in the 100 (13.85).

Rivals’ Moore wins 100

East Jefferson was fourth with 42 points.

Freshman sprinter Arden Moore ran to a win with her fastest time ever in the 100 (13.62). Moore also was second in the 200.

Sienna Emerson set a personal record with a win in the javelin (86-10) and teamed with Moore, Carina Shiflett and Kaida Rodrigues to win the 4×100 relay in 53.83.

Port Angeles teams are back at it today at the Liberty Invite in Renton.

East Jefferson is off for spring break and willl return for the Birger Solberg Invitational in Bellingham on April 6.
