TRACK & FIELD (Updated): Sequim girls win sun-splashed home meet

SEQUIM — Sequim’s girls had success in all but one of the jumping events on their way to an Olympic League track and field meet victory at home Thursday.

The Wolves outpointed Bremerton 77-58 in the girls meet with Clallam Bay and Neah Bay athletes also participating.

Defending state high jump champion Clare Turella posted her best leap of the early season, 5 feet, to win that event. Teammate Ahrya Klinger took the pole vault (7-6) and freshman Ruby Moxley-Horgan was a winner in the long jump at 14-81/2.

Neah Bay’s Qwaapeys Greene won the 400, setting a personal-best time of 1:06.77.

Greene joined Alexa Greene, Brianna McGimpsey and Angel Halttunen to win the 4×100 in 53.71.

Senior Sean Southard won two field events, setting a personal record in the shot put (42-8) and taking the javelin (148-3).

Southard also was a member of the Wolves’ winning 4×100 relay squad along with Reid Randall, Adrian Osborne and Andrew Keeler (46.83).

Osborne, Westley French, Jonathan Tipton and Gavin Tupper won the 4×400 relay for Sequim.
