TRACK & FIELD: Port Townsend relay teams win at Lewis County Invite

CENTRALIA — Port Townsend got first-place finishes from both its boys and girls 4-by-100 relay teams at the Lewis County Invitational meet featuring 14 high schools.

Port Townsend and Forks competed in the Saturday meet and both schools ended up with a number of other high finishes.

The Port Townsend 4-by-100 relay team of Seren Dances, Erik Pokorny, Berkley Hill and Isaiah Mason came in first with a time of 45.47 seconds. Dances added a first-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 4:06.

The Port Townsend girls 4-by-100 relay team of Ari Winter, Brenna Franklin, Aubrey Botkin and Anika Avelino came in first with a time of 55.19.

Marissa Bailey for Forks also came in first in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:33.25. She also picked up a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:39.44.

Dances added a second-place finish in the 100-meter run with a time of 11.76.

For Forks, Matthew Larson had a second-place finish in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:51.52, while teammate Peyton Rondau got a second-place in the discus with a throw of 113-0 feet.

Port Townsend’s Botkin was second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.02 and her teammate Franklin was second in the discus with a throw of 92-10. Botkin also added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter run with a time of 29.35.

Port Townsend’s Mason was second in the long jump with a leap of 20-0 ¾.

Nathan Cantrell of Port Townsend was third in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:50.89 and Josue Lucas of Forks was fourth in the same event with a time of 4:58.30.
