PORT ANGELES — Three Port Angeles track & field athletes set personal records while winning multiple events as the host Roughriders found plenty of success in a five-team Olympic League meet held Thursday.
In the boys meet, Port Angeles dusted the field, piling up 116.25 points with Sequim (53.75) second, Kingston (6) third, Crescent fourth with four and Neah Bay fifth with one point.
Senior Parker Nickerson won three events for the Riders, setting a personal record time in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.97 seconds, a season record of 54.68 to take the 400 run and produced a leap of 40 feet, 11.5 inches in the triple jump.
Senior Dallas Dunning broke his own best marks for Port Angeles, breaking 6 feet in the high jump and throwing the javelin 146-04.
Trevor Martin also set personal records while finishing first in the discus (125-02) and shot put (45-04) for the Riders.
Martin also teamed with Kaiden Point, Dylan Williams and 100-meter sprint winner Jason Hawes for a 4×100 relay win in 45.92.
Easton Dempsey, winner of the 1,600 race with a personal record time of 5:05.63, teamed with Conner Enders, Finn Thompson and Logan Wilson to claim the 4×400 race in 3:52.34.
Sequim boys won three events.
Sean Southard sprinted to victory in the 200 (24.04), Colby Ellefson went the distance in the 3,200 race in 10:18.27 and Cayden Beauregard and Brody Andersen tied for top spot in the pole vault, with each clearing 12 feet, a record for Andersen.
On the girls side, Sequim outpointed Port Angeles 58-45. Crescent finished third with 36 points, ahead of Kingston (32) and Neah Bay (17).
The Wolves were led by multiple-event winners Ivy Barrett and Clare Turella.
Barrett showed her range as a runner, winning the 100 spring in 13.9 seconds and setting a personal record in the 800 (2:35.33).
Turella won the high jump (4-08) and the long jump (14-05).
Barrett also teamed with Kaitlyn Bloomenrader, Bailey Stein and Birdie Pyeatt to win the 4×200 relay in 1:53.62.
Ahrya Klinger won the pole vault by a foot, clearing 8-06.
Port Angeles’ 4×100 team of Alexis Priest, Octavia Smith, Zoe Ernst and Lillian Sutherland claimed victory in 58.31 seconds and the 4×400 relay squad of Ernst, Kayla Grant, Brooke Pierce and Miriam Cobb also won (4:40.57).
Teanna Clark was the Riders’ lone event winner, setting a personal record of 101-07 to win the javelin.
Crescent had four event winners with Naomii Sprague winning twice, taking the 100 hurdles with a personal record of 19.91 seconds and the triple jump (30-05).
Katelyn Dunavant threw the discus 89-01 for a Crescent win and younger sister Alexis Dunavant set a personal record in winning the shot put (31-10).
Fresh off signing a letter of intent to play basketball at Peninsula College next season, Neah Bay’s Ryana Moss won the 1,600 race in 5:52.49 and the 300 hurdles in 54.41.
