PORT TOWNSEND — Audrey Shingleton, Jackson Oliver and Oscar Herrera paced the Sequim girls and boys track and field teams to sweeps at the four-team Olympic League duals at Blue Heron Middle School.
The Sequim girls beat Port Townsend 80-59, Port Angeles 88-63 and Coupeville 90-54.
Shingleton won the girls 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 44.90 seconds, and the 3,200 with a 12:27.3.
Other winners for the Wolves on Thursday were Mattie Clark, who took first in the 300 hurdles (56.44 seconds), and freshman Elizabeth Sweet, who won the pole vault with height of 7 feet, 6 inches.
Sequim also won two relays. Gretchen Happe, Emma Beeson, Telicia Busby and Rylee Gray ran the 4×200 in 1:53.54; and Waverly Shreffler, Happe, Kiara Pierson and Mercedes Woods ran the 4×400 in 4:19.90.
The Port Townsend girls narrowly defeated Port Angeles 70-69 and beat Coupeville 77-47.
For the Redhawks, Aubry Botkin won the 100 hurdles by more than a second with a time of 16:34 seconds. That is a second-and-a-half faster than her previous best time, and it ranks second in Class 1A.
“The performance of the meet was by freshman Aubry Botkin in the 100-meter hurdles,” Port Townsend coach Ian Fraser said.
“She posted a good debut at the distance in our first meet in March, but had a lot of work to do on her hurdling.
“After working on learning the rhythm of the event for a few weeks, we let her race them again, and she showed that her work is paying off.”
The Redhawks’ other freshman phenom, Eileen Leoso, won the long jump (16-04.25) and the triple jump (33-05.25).
Leoso’s long jump mark is an 8-inch improvement over her previous best.
Botkin and Leoso teamed with Brenna Franklin and Ari Winter to take first in the 4×100 relay with a time of 53.44 seconds.
Shenoa Snyder also was a winner for the Redhawks with a discus throw of 96-07.
Gracie Long finished first in two events for Port Angeles. She won a showdown with Sequim’s Sheffler in the 1,600, winning with a time of 5:22.90, and her 4-foot, 10-inch high jump beat all competitors at Friday’s meet by at least 4 inches.
The Riders’ lone dual victory came against Coupevile by an 83-56 tally.
Oliver wins three
Oliver took first in three events for the Sequim boys: the 800 (2 minutes, 9.07 seconds), 1,600 (4:54.30) and high jump (6 feet).
Herrera continued to dominate the hurdles, taking the 110 in 15.68 seconds and the 300 in 43.21 seconds.
Sequim’s Logan Habner took first at Thursday’s meet in the 400 with a time of 55.10 seconds, and Wendall Lorenzen won the 3,200 with a 10.52.10.
Jason Springer, Curtis Gorr, Habner and Stoddard took first for the Wolves in the 4×400 relay, finishing in 3:44.10.
The Wolves defeated Coupeville 82-61, Port Angeles 85-49 and Port Townsend 93-47.
Koby Weidner won both sprints for Port Townsend, taking the 100 in 11.62 seconds and the 200 in 23.49 seconds.
He also ran the anchor leg of the Redhawks’ winning 4×100 relay, following Kyle Blankenship, Seren Dances and Carson Marx to post a time of 44.58 seconds, which ranks third in Class 1A this season.
Dances had pair of individual wins, in the long jump (20-03) and the triple jump (42-02).
Ari Athair won the pole vault for the Port Angeles with a height of 12 feet, and Jacob Kennedy threw a personal-best 43-04 in the shot put.
The Riders defeated Port Townsend 77-58, but lost to Coupeville 78-61.
The Redhawks also lost to Coupeville 68-57.
Golden a double winner for Cowboys
BREMERTON — Sam Golden won the boys 110- and 300-meter hurdles for Chimacum at the four-team Olympic League duals at Silverdale Stadium.
The Chimacum boys and girls were both swept in their three respective duals Thursday.
Golden ran the 110 hurdles in a time of 16.52 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 43.49 seconds.
The Cowboys had two other individual winners. Trevon Noel was the shot put champion with a distance of 40 feet, 7.5 inches, and Chris Sevilla took first in the javelin with a throw of 136-05.
Bailey Castillo was part of two runner-up finishes for the Chimacum girls.
Individually, Castillo was in second the javelin with a throw 89-02. She also teamed with Jada Trafton, Juliet Alban Vallat and Sammy Raines to take second in the 4×100 relay (54.65 seconds).
Three Forks wins at Evergreen meet
TENINO — Austin Pegram was part of two first-place showings for Forks at a four-team Evergreen League meet hosted by Tenino.
Pegram took first Friday in the boys 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.43
Nate Williamson, Andrew Wilder, Cole Baysinger and Pegram took first by running the 4×400 relay in 3:51.01.
Azalea Ramos was the only winner for the Forks girls with a shot put of 24 feet, 6 inches.
