PORT TOWNSEND —Freshman Eileen Leoso’s wins in the 200-meter run and the long jump helped the Port Townsend girls track and field win two of its three duals at an Olympic League meet at Blue Heron Middle School.
The Redhawks beat Chimacum 112-14 and Bremerton 80-56, but fell to Kingston 74-67.
Leoso’s time of 29.92 seconds was tops in the 200, and her leap of 15 feet, 1 inch was the best long jump of Thursday’s meet.
The Redhawks had two other event winners: Ally Bradley claimed the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13:26.3, and Sira Wines won the javelin with a throw of 103-02.
The Chimacum girls also fell to Bremerton 87-10 and Kingston 85-18.
Bailey Castillo led the Cowboys with a third-place finish in the javelin (96-01).
On the boys side, Chimacum held off Port Townsend 59-49, but fell to Kingston 79-51 and to Bremerton 88-46.
The Cowboys had two double-event winners in Sam Golden and Trevon Noel.
Golden won both hurdles events, taking the 110-meter race in 17.41 seconds and the 300 with a time of 45.22 seconds.
Noel won the shot put with a throw of 41-2.75 and the discus with a 118-07.
Kingston and Bremerton beat Port Townsend 80-35 and 80-46, respectively.
The Redhawks also had two double-event winners. Seren Dances won the long jump (20-02) and the triple jump (42-02), while Koby Weidner won the 100 (11.58 seconds) and 200 (24.35 seconds).
Neah Bay and Clallam Bay also competed at Thursday’s meet.
Clallam Bay’s Molly McCoy was first in the girls high jump, clearing 4-08, and teammate Jennica Maines won the triple jump by recording a distance of 28-9.
Kayla Winck was fourth in the discus with a distance of 75-08 to lead the Red Devils.
For the Neah Bay boys, Cameron Buzzell was third in the boys 200 (25.08 seconds).
The Bruins were led by Alan Greene, who placed second in the javelin (129-04) and fourth in the 400 (59.95 seconds).
Sequim squads go 1-2 in duals
POULSBO — Sequim’s boys and girls teams each lost duals to North Kitsap and Olympic but beat Coupeville at the four-team Olympic League meet at North Kitsap High School.
The Sequim boys had a pair of double winners at Thursday’s meet. Jackson Oliver took first in the high jump (6 feet) and 3,200-meter run (10 minutes, 55.24 seconds), and Oscar Herrera won the 110 hurdles (15.60 seconds) and 300 hurdles (42.07 hurdles).
Chris Whitaker was a winner as well for the Wolves, taking the shot put with a throw of 40-08.5. He also placed second in the discus.
The Sequim boys lost to North Kitsap 83-62, and to Olympic 77-68. They routed Coupeville 101.5-42.5.
The Sequim girls won a close dual with Coupeville 74-64. The Wolves lost to Olympic 91-59, and fell to North Kitsap 94-56.
Waverly Shreffler, Audrey Shingleton and Kiara Pierson each won individual events while also teaming up with Gretchen Happe to take first in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:27.26.
Shreffler ran to two titles at Thursday’s meet, winning the 400 (1:02.76) and the 800 (2:25.91).
Shingleton won the 1,600 (5:49.84), and Kiara Pierson placed first in the 3,200 (12:53.26)
Sequim’s teams return to Poulsbo for the Lil’ Norway Invitational this Saturday.
