FORKS — The Port Angeles girls won the Forks Lions Club Invitational in dominating fashion.
The Roughriders accumulated 182 points. Alaska’s Ketchikan was a distant second with 92 points.
Clallam Bay (68 points) placed third, Forks (61) was fourth, Crescent (42) took fifth and Neah Bay (21) was seventh.
Klahowya (114 points) won the boys title, followed by Ketchikan (110), Forks (109), Port Angeles (58), Neah Bay (42), Crescent (37) and Clallam Bay (22).
The Port Angeles girls had six first-place finishers.
Keeping with what has become the norm, Jolene Millsap won the 100-meter dash (13.25 seconds) and 200-meter dash (27.18 seconds).
Millsap also took second in the 400-meter dash.
The Riders won two distance runs. Elizabeth Stevenson took the 1,600-meter in 5:56.15 and Willow Suess won the 3,200-meter with a time of 13:06.24.
Suess added second-place finishes in the long jump and the triple jump, and Stevenson was second in the 800-meter run.
Port Angeles’ wins in the field events were by Shay-Lyn Gracey, who won the long jump with a 13-07, and Zoe Owens-Clawson in the triple jump (30-07).
Clallam Bay had only one win, but racked up points with a bunch of high finishes.
The Bruins won the 4×100-meter relay, with Mariah Lachester, Marissa May, Inga Erickson and Atokena Abe putting in a time of 1:02.03.
Clallam Bay also had second-place showings in the 4×200-meter relay (May, Erickson, Jennica Maines and Abe) and 4×400-meter relay (Erickson, May, Chelsey Ritter and Molly McCoy).
McCoy, a freshman, had another big day for the Bruins, placing second in the 300-meter hurdles and the high jump and fifth in the long jump.
Erickson also had a third-place finish in the 400.
Kari Larson and Tristina Smith were both winners for the host Spartans.
Larson won the 800 with a time of 2:38.37, and Smith took the javelin with a throw of 84-04.
Also for Forks, Tristen Williams was second in the 3,200, Mercedes Flores was second in the shot put and Erin Weekes took third in the triple jump.
Crescent sophomore Ryan Lester won the 100 hurdles in 18.67 seconds and 300 hurdles in 53.61 seconds. She also placed third in the long jump.
The Loggers had a strong showing in the javelin with Devanie Christie taking second and Meghan Shamp finishing third.
For Neah Bay, Faye Chartraw won the shot put with a 30-07.5, beating out the North Olympic Peninsula’s season leader in the event, Mercedes Flores.
Chartraw also was second in the discus.
Forks boys dominate shot put
On the boys side, the Spartans claimed four of the top five spots in the shot put.
Miguel Morales won the event with a Peninsula-best mark of 44-09.25. Teammates Jonny Law and Andrew Armas were second and third, respectively and George Buck was fifth.
Forks also racked up points in the high jump, with Devin Perez winning the event (5-04) and Aaron Krume taking second.
Armas took second in the long jump. Other second-placers for the Spartans were Alan Ensastegui in the 3,200 and Nate Pennington in the 400.
Ensastegui also was third in the 1,600 and Pennington had a fourth-place showing in the 200.
Tony Dalgardno and Nick Fritschler were Port Angeles’ top performers, finishing second and third, respectively, in the 800 and the triple jump.
Dalgardno also placed third in the 3,200.
Also for the Riders, Jens Konerding was fifth in the 110 hurdles.
Neah Bay’s Elisha Winck was a double winner, taking the long jump (16-10) and the triple jump (37-07). He also took fourth in the 100-meter dash.
Teammate Grayson Porter was third in the high jump and second in the javelin.
Crescent’s lone winner was Quenton Wolfer, who took the javelin with a throw of 145-02. Wolfer also placed second in the discus.
Teammate Quinn’Tin March finished second in the 110 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles.
Clallam Bay’s best showings were in the throw events.
Evan Messinger placed third in the javelin and fifth in the discus, right behind teammate Calvin Ritter.
