TRACK AND FIELD: PA’s Nickerson wins 110 hurdles at Lakewood meet

LAKEWOOD — Port Angeles’ Parker Nickerson won the 110 hurdles at the 2024 Sunny and 70! Track and Field Invitational held at Lakewood High School this weekend.

Nickerson won with a time of 15.69 seconds. He also came in second in the 300 hurdles in a time of 41.44.

Port Angeles’ Donovan Heins was also second in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 3¼ inches.

Parker gained 18 points for the Riders and Heins eight. Brody Pierce was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 40-0¼, earning five points. The Riders’ 31 points were good for 12th out of 25 schools. Winning the boys meet was Sehome with 91 points.

The best finish for the girls was by Teanna Clark, who came in fourth in the javelin with a throw of 105-8. Leia Larson was also eighth in the 800 run in a time of 2:30.84.

The Port Angeles track team now prepares for the Olympic League meet from Thursday to Saturday at North Kitsap Stadium.

East Jefferson, Sequim at Shelton

SHELTON — East Jefferson’s Arden Moore won the girls 300 hurdles at the 64th annual Shelton Invitational Track and Field meet.

Moore won in a time of 48.21 seconds.

The Shelton Invitational included athletes from more than 30 schools and track clubs.

Sequim’s top finish was by Ari Skov in the pole vault. He finished second with a height of 13-0. Teammate Cayden Beauregard was third with a pole vault of 12-6.

East Jefferson’s Indigo Gould was third in the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:55.58. Sequim’s Colby Ellefson was fourth at 9:57.89.

East Jefferson’s Carina Shiflett was fourth in the women’s 100 meters in a time of 13.75.
