TACOMA — Sequim’s Mirek Skov, Forks’ Nate Dahlgren and Crescent’s Titus White picked up more outstanding finishes at the 2A and 1A state track meets Friday.
Meanwhile, three Olympic Peninsula prep tennis players were in the 2A state semifinals Saturday.
Back to track, Sequim’s Skov finished second in the pole vault in the 2A meet at Mount Tahoma High School with a solid height of 14 feet, 0 inches.
The Sequim girls’ 4×200 team of Katie Morris, Kaitlyn Bloomenrader, Ivy Barrett and Jolene Vaara finished sixth with a time of 1 minutes, 47.92 seconds. On Thursday, Vaara picked up an individual second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 16-3¼.
Forks’ Dahlgren was third in the shot put at the state 2B meet in Yakima with a distance of 46 feet, 3 inches. His teammate Grady Earls was ninth in the long jump with a leap of 18-9.
The Spartans picked up two top-10 finishes in the girls’ javelin. Keana Rowley finished ninth in the girls’ javelin with a throw of 97-7, while teammate Peyton Johnson was 10th at 96-3.
For East Jefferson, Addy Asbell was 11th in the shot put at the girls 1A meet in Yakima with a distance of 33-7¼.
At the 1B meet, also in Yakima, White finished third in the discus with a throw of 124-9, while Neah Bay’s Matthew Veliz was sixth at 111-2.
Crescent’s Conner Bauers was seventh at the 1B meet in the triple jump with a distance of 38-5¾.

Tennis
SEATTLE — At least one Olympic Peninsula tennis player will be in the state 2A finals Saturday.
Port Angeles’ Reef Gelder and Sequim’s Garrett Little played each other Saturday in the state 2A semifinals for the right to go up against Zach Chai of Sehome for the state championship. The loser of that match will move on to play in a third-place match.
Little made it to the semis by beating Conner Kunz of West Valley (Spokane) 2-0, and by beating Nathan Gruman of Sehome 2-0. Gelder made it to the semifinals by beating Andrew Walczyk of For Vancouver 2-0 and Indigo Gallagher-Zapf of North Kitsap 2-0.
Meawhile, Sequim’s Kendall Hastings will be playing for third place in the girls 2A state tournament.
Hastings beat Audrey Zdunich of R.A. Long 2-0 in her opening match and then beat Lowa Gresham of Bellingham 2-1 in the quarterfinals. She lost 2-0 to Rhoda Wang of Pullman in the semis. Wang will play Taraneh Khalighi of Sammamish, the District 2/3 champion.
Hastings will play Teegan Devries, a familiar opponent from North Kitsap High School, for third place.
In the 1A doubles tournament, East Jefferson’s Reid Martin and Stuart Dow are playing for fifth place. They will play E. Golding and K. Blunt, a duo from Goldendale.
Martin and Dow lost their opeing match to J. Kirk and B. Sachman of Omak 2-0. They bounced back by beating R. Bjur and J. Diaz of Toppenish 2-0, then won again 2-0 over B. Rasmusson and K. Willard of Manson to qualify for the fifth-place match.
In the 2A doubles tournament, the Port Angeles team of Edun Bailey and Jacob Miller won a match. They started off winning 2-1 over the team of Javyn Han/Bryce Kuykendall of W.F. West.a W.F. duo. then lost 2-0 to Jackson Warner and Nicholas Crowley-Koehler of Bremerton. They wrapped up losing 2-0 to Ethan Gillespie and Mason Chmielewski of North Kitsap.
