SEATTLE — The Sequim doubles’ teams of Justin Porter/Stephen Prorok and Jessica Dietzman/Hannah D’Amico each won matches at the state 2A Tennis Championships at the Nordstrom Center, but they were not able to place.
Dietzman and D’Amico lost their first match Thursday to Sophia Lawrence and Alice Hiebert 6-0, 6-1, but they bounced back with a 6-4, 6-2 win later in the day over Sydney Troy and Brookyn Haro of Olympic. However, their run at state ended in their third match, as they lost to Tanaya Anderson and Katie Walker of Othello 7-5, 6-2.
If Dietzman and D’Amico could have won that final match, they would have played for fifth at state.
Porter and Prorok won their first match Thursday 6-1, 6-0 over Ryan Warren and Nick Stottlemyre of Tumwater. They lost their second match 6-2, 6-0 against Ethan Le and Bryan Le of Liberty.
That put Porter and Prorok in the fourth-place bracket. The Sequim duo lost its third match 6-0, 6-0 Friday to Finn Fosberg and Drew Segmoen of Highline. Porter and Prorok would have played for fourth if they had won that match.
