SPRINT BOATS: Test & Tune set Saturday at Extreme Sports Park

Practice session is $10

Peninsula Daily News

PORT ANGELES — The American Sprint Boat Racing Association will hold the first Test & Tune Event at the Extreme Sports Park west of Port Angeles on Saturday.

The Test & Tune Event is a preseason practice race. It will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person, cash at the gate. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. with free parking. Camping and concessions are not available for this one-day preseason event. Spectators may bring picnics, chairs and coolers.

The series will be heading to another brand-new racetrack, Ontario Speedway in Ontario, Ore., which will be hosting a pair of two-day races this season.

This year also brings the expansion of racing from a one-day event to a two-day event due to the growth and popularity of the sport. ASBR is increasingly acquiring racing teams and boats, which means longer races. The first day, Saturday, will be designated for qualifications, with the second day, Sunday, for eliminations and finals.

ASBR Stihl American Sprint Boat Pro Racing Series has two sprint boat racing tracks with racers competing for cash and points towards season championship. The 2023 series dates and locations are: Port Angeles on July 29-30, and Ontario Aug. 12-13, then back to Port Angeles Sept. 9-10, and Ontario Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

Admission tickets and campground passes for the events are available by going to: Buy Tickets! — Extreme Sports Park & Sprint Boat Race Track and Ontario Speedway ASB Sprint Boat Racing (www.ticketspice.com).
