SPORTS: Wilder Baseball eliminated from Babe Ruth World Series after 4-2 loss

WEIMAR, Texas — Wilder Baseball’s run through the Babe Ruth World Series ended Thursday night when they lost 4-2 to host team Texas Tri-Counties.

Kyle Kelly pitched six solid innings and George Marinan drove in two runs in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a 4-run second inning by Tri-Counties.

Wilder batters were unable to figure out Tri-Counties pitcher Wes Wick, who struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings and prevented the Port Angeles squad from reaching the scoreboard until the final inning.

Wilder finishes the tournament with a 2-3 record.

Texas Tri-Counties, the American Division’s No.2 team, next faces the National Division champion Cape Cod, Mass., who beat Wilder 3-1 on Sunday.
