PORT ANGELES — Tranco Transmissions secured its second straight Cal Ripken Majors League city championship Thursday night in a barn-burner, defeating Mobile Music 7-6.
Mobile took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning behind the hitting of Noah McGoff and Luke Angevine, combined with three consecutive walks dished out by Tranco pitching.
Tranco tied the game in the second inning, scoring two runs on just a single hit by Brandon Miles.
Eathan Miles helped put Tranco into the lead in the third with a hit that moved Spencer Stensland to third. Stensland eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Three hits in the fourth opened the game up 7-3 for Tranco. Evan Hurn tripled, Corey Stone doubled and Stensland singled to plate three runs.
Mobile came storming back in the fifth inning behind a home run by Ricky Crawford to cut the lead.
Angevine and Crawford kept the runs coming in the sixth for Mobile with hits that scored runners on base.
Hurn finally closed the door for Tranco, smothering a come-backer line drive to end the game and give Tranco its second championship in as many years.
