SPORTS: Several area players make all-state team

SEATTLE — Chimacum senior Daryl Settlemire was voted to the first-team Class 1A all-state football team while four area 1B players also earned first-team honors.

Making the 1B first team were Crescent wide receiver Derek Findley, and defensive lineman John Reamer, defensive back Ezekial Greene and all-purpose player Josiah Greene, all of Neah Bay.

Settlemire is a two-time Nisqually League defensive MVP. He also earned all-league first-team honors as an offensive tackle.

Settlemire had eight sacks and 82 tackles as a defensive lineman this past season.

Findley, a fast 1B player with sure receiving hands for the Loggers, is a senior.

Neah Bay, which captured second in state after claiming the state championship the year before, had the three first-team standout players plus three second teamers.

Reamer, a sophomore made the first team on the defensive line, and the state second team on the offensive line.

Josiah Greene, last year’s 1B player of the year as a sophomore, made the first team in 2012 as an all-purpose player and as quarterback on the second team all-state.

Ezekial Greene, voted on the first team as one of the top defensive backs in state, is a junior.

Also making the 1B all-state second team were junior running back Matt Mohr of Clallam Bay, junior linebacker Tyler McCaulley of Neah Bay and senior defensive lineman Mike Zapien of Crescent.

Liberty Christian’s Mike Olson was voted the 1B player of the year.

Liberty Christian beat Neah Bay 34-28 for the state title.
