Sports: Sequim track teams win three-way meet

SEQUIM — The Sequim High School boys and girls track and field teams were winners in a Nisqually League three-way meet Thursday.

The boys, 10-1 overall and 6-0 in league action, dropped Vashon Island 126-13 and Orting 95-50.

Jordan Garrett and James Henning were double winners for the Wolves.

Garrett won the triple jump with a leap of 25 feet, 8 3/4 inches, and he took the high jump (5-4).

Henning won the shot put (39-6) and the javelin (141-0).

Shane Dinius was the winner of the 1,600 meters in 4:51.3 seconds while Cory Parrish won the 400 (54.9).

Kenny Russell was the winner of the 800 (2:12.9) while Colin Haenel captured the discus (139-2).

David Copeland was the winner of the pole vault (9-6).

The girls (10-1 overall, 5-1 in league) beat Vashon Island 138-16 and dropped Orting 115-40.

Lauryn Garrett and Steph Marcy were double winners.

Garrett won the 100 hurdles (17.3) and the high jump (4-6) while Marcy was first in the 400 (1:03.4) and the 800 (2:27.1).

Laura Moser was the winner of the 1,600 (5:44.5) while Hannah Ohnstad was the winner of the 3,200 (12:21.6).

Jamie Muller was first in the triple jump (29-7 1/2) while Kim McFarlen was the winner of the long jump (13-9 3/4) and Summer Steenberg was the winner of the pole vault (7-0).

The girls also collected first place in the 4×200 relay (1:58.5).

Sequim will be at the Eason Invitational on Saturday and at home next Thursday against North Mason.
