SEQUIM — Superior depth sparked the Sequim boys golf team to an easy romp over Bremerton in Olympic League action.
The Wolves, with no one shooting over 46 in the top five, buried the Knights 223-263 in their first home meet of the season at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course on Wednesday.
Bremerton’s top two golfers played right along with the Wolves but its bottom three were no match to Sequim’s level of play.
The Knights had only five players so they had to use everybody’s score.
Sequim’s bottom three outscored Bremerton’s bottom three 139-179 for the 40-stroke margin of victory.
Sequim’s Anthony Pinza and Brycen Kulberth of Bremerton tied for co-medalist honors with a 2-over 39 each on the par-37 front nine.
Tying for third place were Travis Priest of Sequim and Derrick Baker of Bremerton with scores of 45 each.
There was a tie for fifth place, too, as Sequim teammates Jack Shea and Matt Cays carded a 46 each.
Sequim’s Jesse Francis shot a 47 to claim seventh place.

Sequim 262, Bremerton 330
SEQUIM — Elisa Sallee of Sequim shot a career-best 44 on her 18th birthday Wednesday to lead the Wolves past the Knights in Olympic League competition.
The two teams played on the par-37 front nine using stroke play with double-par pick-up at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course in the Wolves’ first home meet of the season.
Sequim improved to 2-0 in league and 2-1 overall.
The Wolves captured the top five places with Brianna Kettel earning second with a career-best 49, Maddy Fisher taking third with 54, Caitlin Stofferahn claiming fourth with 57, and Cecilee Wech shooting a career-best 58 for fifth.
Bremerton’s top scorer was Tucker Alexander with 61.
Sequim’s next match is at White Horse Golf Club in Kingston on Wednesday in a nonleague three-way match with Kingston and North Kitsap.
Track and Field
Port Angeles Invitational
PORT ANGELES — High school track and field fans will have a treat Saturday as all North Olympic Peninsula teams will be competing at the Port Angeles Invitational.
Action starts at 11 a.m. on the high school track with area 2A teams Port Angeles and Sequim, 1A Port Townsend and Forks, and 1B Crescent, Neah Bay and Clallam Bay.
Also, all Olympic League teams except for North Mason and Klahowya will be at the invitational.
