Sports: Sequim soccer team shuts out Port Townsend 4-0

SEQUIM — With the season in the bag, the Sequim High School soccer team has nothing left to do but sit and hope for a little luck, in order to slide into the post season.

“What we need now is a little miracle,”‘ Wolves head coach Dave Brasher said. “And I do believe in miracles.”

The Wolves finished the season strong on Tuesday, knocking off Port Townsend 4-0 in what turned out to be a battle of the seniors.

Seniors Casey Nagler and Evan Still each picked up two goals on the night, while goal tender Josh Lindsey finished with 18 saves in front of the net.

Nagler kicked things off for the Wolves just ten minutes into play scoring a goal on an assist by Andy Chinn.

Still followed in the 36th minute with a goal on a penalty kick, giving the Wolves a 2-0 halftime lead.

Nagler earned his 17th goal of the season — and second of the game — early in the second half on an assist by Kurt Ludke.

Still’s second goal in the 60th minute came on a pass from senior Per Berg.

Port Townsend is now 7-3 in league and 9-4-1 overall.

In order to make the postseason The Wolves (6-4 in league, 8-7-1 overall) need Vashon High School to lose its final two games of the season, in which they face Eatonville and Steilacoom.
