SEQUIM — Samantha Whiteside set a 14-year-old Sequim school record as the Wolves boys and girls track teams dominated Port Townsend and Klahowya on Thursday.
The Sequim boys won the three-way Olympic League meet with 100 points to the Redskins’ 41 and the Eagles’ 28.
The girls scores were similar as the Wolves won with 101, followed by Port Townsend with 49 and Klahowya with 33.
Whiteside won the 100 meters in 12.4 seconds, breaking the 12.7 record set by Christy Edens in 1996.
Sequim teammate Anna LaBeaume was runner-up Thursday with a time that would have broke the old record, 12.6.
Haleigh Harrison won four events for Sequim while Whiteside captured three events and Allison Cutting was a double winner.
Harrison won the 300 low hurdles, the high jump, the long jump and the triple jump.
Whiteside also took the pole vault and the 200 while Cutting was a winner in the 1,600 and 3,200.
Double winners for the boys were Sequim’s Emanuel Herrera and Port Townsend’s Habtamu Rubio.
Herrera won the 200 sprint and the 300 hurdles while Rubio won the 800 and the 3,200.
Track and Field Forks boys, girls 3rd
MONTESANO — The Spartan boys and girls each finished third in the five-team SWL meet Thursday.
Roman Hurst, Brian Santman and Scott Reed each won an event for the boys, who took third with 103 points.
Hurst took the triple jump with a personal best leap of 40 feet, eight inches. Santman submitted a personal best of his own in the 800 meter race, finishing in two minutes, 7 seconds.
Reed was the team’s lone double winner, taking the 110 and 300 hurdles.
Kirsten Larson, Lauren Bergstrom and Theresa Soha lead the girls team (60 points) with individual wins.
Larson won the 3,200 with a personal best (13:41), while Bergstrom took the triple jump and Soha the discus (76-10).
Baseball Chimacum 10, Seattle Christian 1
SEATTLE — The Cowboys continued their hot streak, dominating Seattle Christian in a Nisqually League game Thursday.
The game was a makeup from a rainout Wednesday.
Landon Cray and Austin McConnell combined to hold Seattle to four hits in the seven-inning game.
Cray fanned 12 batters in six innings with one walk while McConnell struck out one in the seventh stanza.
Egan Cornachione went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while Dillon Dukek was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
Lucas Dukek had a solo home run while Devin Manix went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Cray went 2-for-4 with a double.
“This was one of our better games,” coach Loren Bishop said.
Chimacum (7-1, 10-2) next hosts Charles Wright today.

TOLEDO — The Indians swept the Spartans in dominating fashion during Thursday’s SWL-Evergreen Division doubleheader.
Michael Dean and Jon Gimlin were among the few bright spots for Forks, with both submitting two-hit games at the plate.

BREMERTON — Alex Gillis saved the day once again in Thursday’s Olympic League game.
The Wolves reliever came on in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded and two gone, then proceeded to get the last out in two pitches for the Wolves’ third straight win.
He pulled a similar feat just one day earlier, entering another bases loaded jam against Port Angeles (albeit in the fifth inning) and getting a strikeout to preserve a tie game the Wolves eventually won.
Gillis’ save made sure a strong outing from starter Jeremie Oliver did not go to waste. Oliver went 6 2/3 innings with four strikeouts for his third win.
Sequim (7-4 in league, 8-7 overall) hosts Port Townsend on Monday.

Chelsea Winfield earned the win on the mound, going five innings with seven strikeouts and one walk.
Lea Hopson, one of four Wolves with three hits, bashed a home run.

Boys Soccer Orting 4, Chimacum 2
CHIMACUM — The Cowboys held their own but couldn’t break through on the win column in Nisqually League play Thursday.
Chimacum (0-7, 4-7) had a 1-1 tie at halftime and was knotted 2-2 with Orting with just 7 minutes left in the game.
“It was a tight and exciting game,” Chimacum coach Kevin Coate said.
Caleb Brown, who had a hat trick the last time Chimacum played, scored 22 minutes in the game.
Keegan Young scored the tying goal early in the second half.
Goalkeeper Austin Maples had four saves for the Cowboys.
Chimacum had 12 shots on goal.
The Cowboys next play at Cascade Christian on Tuesday.
Olympic 2, Port Townsend 1
PORT TOWNSEND — Mike Schweiger kicked in a rebound goal in the 77th minute to hand the Redskins another heart-breaking defeat Thursday.
It was Port Townsend’s third loss of the season where the difference was just one goal.
“They are still fighting,” Port Townsend coach Patrick Kane said, noting the play of Louis Gitelman, Harrison Hodgson and his goal scorer Sam Selisch.
Port Townsend (1-5-1, 3-6-1) heads to Belfair tonight to take on North Mason.

Boys Golf Higgins Memorial tournament
BREMERTON — Port Townsend’s Ronnie Harrell tied for medalist honors at the prestigious Tim Higgins Memorial tournament at Kitsap Golf and Country Club on Thursday.
Harrell shot a 3-over 74 but had to settle for second place when he lost a sudden-death playoff.
Chimacum’s Eric Nelson was just two strokes behind with 76.
Sequim did the best for area teams, capturing third place with a score of 342 while the Redskins were right behind with 345.
Chimacum came in sixth in the 11-team event with 363 while Port Angeles took seventh with 370.
Central Kitsap won with 315.
Sequim ace Ryan O’Mera took 11th place with an 82 while teammate Steve Loerlien was right behind with an 83, tying for 12th with Jordan Negus of Port Angeles.
Sean Anderson of Port Townsend finished in the top 10 with an 81.
Port Angeles 87, North Kitsap 61
KINGSTON — Jordan Negus earned medalist honors for the third time to lead the Roughriders to the Olympic League win at White Horse Golf Club.
Negus scored 85 for 23 stableford points for first on 18 holes. He had nine pars and a birdie.
Terrance Stevenson was close behind with 88, earning five pars and a bogey.
Ben Wetzler, meanwhile, shot the first eagle on the year on the 125-yard eighth hole and he ended up with a score of 90.
Garrett Payton shot 95 while Bryan Schlinkmann shot 96.
The Roughriders have a 3-2 record, tied for third place in league.
