BELFAIR — Sequim pounded North Mason 5-0 in an Olympic League boys soccer game Thursday night.
The Wolves outshot the Bulldogs 17-10 and received a shutout in the goal by keeper John Textor to extend their record to 2-0 for the season.
Daniel Servin scored two goals for the Wolves and added an assist.
Zane Carey scored Sequim’s final goal of the game unassisted and also had an assist in the match.
Nick Camporini got Sequim on the board in the 14th minute and added an assist on one of Servin’s goals.
Martin Fonseca scored for Sequim, as well.
“North Mason was tougher than we believed coming into the game,” coach Dave Brasher said.
“The guys really came together and played well today.”

SILVERDALE — Max Gunn and Harrison Hodgson each scored two goals in the second half to boost the Redskins to a commanding win in their first game of the season Thursday night.
“We put it everywhere except between the posts in the first half,” Port Townsend coach Patrick Kane said.
“Once we organized ourselves at halftime the offensive machine got going.”
Port Townsend heads to South Whidbey on Saturday for a nonleague match.

ROCHESTER — The Warriors swept the Spartans in the two teams’ first SWL-Evergreen Division doubleheader of the season Thursday.
Forks fell in five innings to the Rochester — the 2008 Class 1A champion — in the first game before losing 9-2 in seven innings in the nightcap.
Forks (0-2 in league and overall) heads to Sequim today for a nonleague tilt.

GIG HARBOR — The North Olympic Peninsula Mountaineers won their season opener Tuesday night on the road in a very defensive game.
Goalkeeper Julian Walls had 10 saves on the night.
Jacob Dostie, Kegan Gallagher and Matt Olmstead each scored two goals for the Mountaineers (1-0 overall).
The NOPM team is a sport club participating in games across the region.
The team has dedicated its season to former member Nick Wright, who died suddenly a month ago of heart failure while training.
“We are a young and inexperienced team but we have tremendous inspiration from the memory of Nick,” Mountaineers coach Dave Farrington said.
Girls Golf Sequim 82, Olympic 64
BREMERTON — Sequim’s Zoei Zbaraschuk picked up right where she left off in Thursday’s Olympic League match at Rolling Hills Golf Course.
The senior led the Wolves to a win in their first match of the season, earning match medalist honors after shooting a 39 for 32 Stableford points.
Zbaraschuk has been the medalist in each league match since her freshman year, a streak that spans at least 14 matches.
“The greens were in pretty bad shape, and it was pretty wet, but it was a good match for our first go around here,” Sequim (1-0) coach Garrett Smithson said.

PORT TOWNSEND — Jenny Grauberger shot a 46 for 25 Stableford points, leading the Redskins to a victory in their season opener at Port Townsend Golf Club on Thursday.
Alexa Russell and Ella Piatt chipped in with scores of 55 and 68, respectively, as the Redskins beat the Bulldogs with just three golfers.

KINGSTON — The fast greens of White Horse Golf Club turned out to be too much for the Riders in their opening Olympic League match Thursday.
Port Angeles (0-1) combined for 31 team three putts in the loss.
Jordan Negus’ 46 was the top score of the day.
“We had difficulty adjusting to the conditions today, which included swirling winds, many uphill shots and extremely quick greens,” Rider coach Mark Mitrovich said. “The greens were probably as quick as we’ll seen all year.”

The even par score gave the senior 18 Stableford points in the nine hole match at Port Townsend Golf Club.

BREMERTON — Brian O’Meara and Jake Ditlefsen had strong showings in the Stableford event Thursday afternoon, helping the Wolves to squeak by the Trojans.
O’Meara tied for match medalist with Olympic’s Mike Knowles, with a round of 38.
Ditlefsen shot a 42 at the Rolling Hills Country Club course in what turned out to be the clinching points for Sequim.
The Wolves will host Klahowya Thursday at the Cedars at Dungeness.

ROCHESTER — The Spartans got off to a slow start in game one of the doubleheader, giving up a dozen hits and as many runs, before bouncing back in a shortened game two.
Game one losing pitcher Jillian Raben had five strikeouts for Forks while going 2-4 at the plate offensively and 4-8 on the day.
The Spartan’s Gwen Gillett pitched neary five innings in game two and was 2-3 hitting in game one.
Taylor Morris got her bat going in the second game, going 4-4 with a double.
Jordan Grahn hit a bases loaded triple in the Spartans (0-2 overall) four-run fourth inning to get the team back within striking distance.
“We have a very young team this year, but we’ve got a lot of strengths,” Forks coach Scott Justus said.
