SEQUIM — Tyler Campbell’s two-run single came up gold for the Sequim baseball team in Olympic League action Monday.
The Wolves, taking a run at the league championship, shaded the tough Kingston Buccaneers 2-1 to improve to 5-1 in league and 6-3 overall.
Sequim scored the only runs it needed in the fourth inning.
Brett Wright walked and advanced to third on a hit-and-run by Karsten Wake.
Wake stole second to set the table for Campbell, who drove in both runs with a single through the infield.
Wake and Jake Hudson combined on the mound to make the score stand up.
Wake started the game, earning the win while allowing just one earned run on five hits, three strikeouts and two walks in five innings.
Hudson threw the final two innings for the save, giving up no runs on one hit.
Kingston scored once in the sixth inning. With one out and a run in, a Kingston runner was thrown out at home on a double-steal attempt.
Hudson then retired the next four batters for the save.

SILVERDALE — Cody Russell threw five solid innings for the Redskins, allowing only two earned runs in Monday’s Olympic League loss.
The Eagles broke the game open with five runs in the fifth inning. The Redskins gave up three hits and several errors in that stanza.
Devon Courtney, Kyle Kelly and Sean Dwyer all went 1 for 3 in the game with Courtney scoring the lone run.

KENT — Cameron Braithwaite continues his standout season for the 2A Roughriders.
Braithwaite captured first place in the 37-team Kent-Meridian Track Invitational in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 6.5 inches Saturday.
Port Angeles coach Bob Sheedy said that jump places Braithwaite sixth on the all-time Port Angeles High School track records, going back to 1932.
“He has a legitimate shot at setting a new school record this season,” Sheedy said.
Braithwaite also claimed third place in the triple jump, going 41-8.75.
“What was truly astounding was the conditions he worked through,” Port Angeles boys head coach Pat Durr said.
“The long jump in the morning was cold, and drizzly, around 39 degrees. We were worried about his hamstrings.
“Later that afternoon, while Cameron was triple-jumping, the rain stopped, the sun broke through and it actually felt hot for about an hour.
“All the athletes had trouble hitting the board when their muscles started warming up, and the kids were stretching out their strides.
“Cameron is a serious, focused athlete who understands how to work hard and how to adjust for the different competition conditions.”
Also competing that day, Jordan Norberg set a personal record in the discus with a 96-11 effort and he cleared 9-6 in pole vault, both in the driving rain.
Braithwaite and Norberg were disappointed that the javelin competition was cancelled because of terrible field conditions, Durr said.
Both athletes are ranked in the top five in javelin in 2A state.
Senior Nick Shindler took 10th in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:15; while junior teammate Kyle Tupper took 12th place with a 10:22.
They both doubled up and ran the mile later in the day getting times of 4:46 and 4:54, respectively.
Sophomore Tony Dalgardno gained big-time meet experience with a time of 12.51 in the 100 meters; 26.07 in the 200 and 57.48 in the 400.
