Sports: Sequim hands Port Townsend first league loss of season

PORT TOWNSEND — The Sequim High School football team shocked Port Townsend 33-21 in Nisqually League play Friday night at Jefferson County Memorial Athletic Field.

Sequim’s Brian Savage rushed for 105 yards, including a 69-yard scoring run for the go-ahead touchdown with 4:27 left in the game.

Sequim (4-2 in league, 4-3 overall) did not allow Port Townsend (5-1, 6-1) to score in the second half. The Redskins held a 21-18 halftime lead.

Savage finished with three touchdowns, and Sequim took control with 18 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

“I’ve got to hand it to Sequim,” said Port Townsend head coach James Fleisher.

Nick Gallaway led the Redskins with 16 carries for 133 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Tim Sutton, playing with a sore ankle, carried 17 times for 59 yards for Sequim. Tim Dosey was 4-for-6 passing for 89 of Sequim’s 115 aerial yards.

Vashon 49, Chimacum 0

VASHON ISLAND — The Cowboys incurred another Nisqually League loss on Friday.

Chimacum (0-6 in league, 0-7 overall) hosts Sequim on Friday at Jefferson County Memorial Athletic Field.
