PORT ANGELES — The Sequim girls golf team showed well at the 21st annual Duke Streeter Invitational at Peninsula Golf Club in Port Angeles on Friday.
The Wolves tied for second in the varsity division, won the junior varsity portion and featured the long-drive winner.
The invitational was played in a two-girl scramble format, with each school being allowed two teams.
Kingston was the top varsity squad with a combined 18-hole score of 180, while Sequim and Shelton were second with 185 each.
Klahowya finished with a 194, and Port Angeles shot 199. North Mason sent only one pair to the tournament, which scored a 93.
Aimee Zehrung and Shaina Weintraub of Kingston and Shelton’s Caitlyn Ernst and Rilee Vellanueva topped all pairs with 18-hole scores of 86 each for medalist honors.
The Wolves’ Elisa Sallee had the tournament’s longest drive. Port Angeles’ Dana Fox and Shelton’s Audra Cation won the closest to the pin competitions on holes four and 14, respectively.
The nine-hole junior varsity scramble was won by Sequim pair Caitlin Stofferahn and Sydney Hasting, who shot a 48.

Sequim wins nonleague 3-way
SEQUIM — The Wolves recorded their best score of the season in beating Olympic League rivals North Kitsap and Kingston in nonleague competition.
Sequim scored 262 in the nine-hole match to the Vikings’ 283 and the Buccaneers’ 289.
The Wolves, 5-0 in league, improved to 6-1 on the year.
Sequim’s Hailey Estes earned medalist honors with a 6-over 43 while Elisa Sallee also broke the 50 barrier with a 49.
Maddy Fisher scored 55 for the Wolves, followed by Caitlin Stofferahn with 57 and Cecilee Wech with 58.
Estes, Wech and Fisher all had season-best scores.

Chimacum 169, Orting 199
PORT LUDLOW — The Cowboys returned ot action after a long spring break layoff to beat Orting in Nisqually League action Thursday.
Orting sophomore Joe Harvey shot an even-par 36 on the Timber 9 at Port Ludlow Golf and Country Club to earn medalist honors.
One of the top young golfers in the state, Harvey just returned from tournaments in Florida and Las Vegas during spring break.
Chimacum’s four-player depth was too much, though, for Orting as junior Nathan Browning and sophomore Riley Downs both carded 39 each for the Cowboys to tie for second.
Kevin Miller was back in fourth place with 44 while Jack Hilt shot 47 for Chimacum.
In the Nisqually League, the best four scores per team are counted.
