SEQUIM — Zoei Zbaraschuk is unstoppable.
Sequim’s senior girls golf team ace took medalist honors in league competition for the 18th consecutive time with 33 Stableford points Thursday in the rain at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course.
She sparked the Wolves to a 92-62 Olympic League victory over Klahowya.
Those 18 straight matches date back to her freshman year.
“That’s unbelievable,” Sequim coach Garrett Smithson said.
Zbaraschuk helped lead the Wolves to a 2-0 season record.
Sequim took the top three places with Kim Duce earning second with 26 points and Hailey Estes taking third with 20.
Teammate Ashley Morton scored 13 points, good for sixth place.
“The girls did very well in the wet conditions,” Smithson said. “The total score we had was very good considering our No. 4 golfer could not attend due to a school project.”
Becca Heyser and Sally Fletcher led Klahowya with 19 points each.
The Wolves, who are on spring break next week, next hosts North Kitsap in an Olympic League meet April 8 at Dungeness.
Boys Golf Sequim 60, Klahowya 33
SEQUIM — The top five Sequim golfers finished within four strokes of each other as the Wolves buried the Eagles in an Olympic League match at Cedars at Dungeness on Thursday.
Sequim’s Ryan O’Mera tied for medalist honors with Klahowya’s Garrett Kitchel with nine-hole scores of 41 each, 4-over par, and Stableford points of 14 apiece.
Close behind and tying for third place were three Sequim teammates.
Steve Loerlein, Jake Dethlefsen and Casey Torres, who all tied with course scores of 43 each and 12 Stableford points apiece.
Not far behind was Ezra Perkins, who shot 45.
“I’m very proud of how the kids are coming together and playing as a team,” Sequim coach Vic Quinet said.
The Wolves next play North Kitsap at Cedars at Dungeness on April 8.
Boys Soccer Toledo/Winlock 2, Forks 0
FORKS — The Spartans outshot Toledo/Winlock 12-8 in a Southwest Washington League game Thursday but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Forks trailed 1-0 at halftime and couldn’t produce the equalizing goal.
It was the Spartans’ first league loss as they fell to 2-1 in league and 2-2 overall.
Forks controlled the ball in the first half but couldn’t score.
Goalkeeper Mathew Ortiz had eight saves for the Spartans.
The Spartans next play at Friday Harbor today.
Bremerton 7, Port Angeles 1
BREMERTON — The cold, wind, rain and Knights were a little too much for the Roughriders in an Olympic League game Thursday.
Bremerton led 4-0 at halftime and cruised to the victory.
Anthony Brandon scored the Riders’ lone goal in the second half on Forrest Epstein’s assist.
Brandon was named the offensive player of the game while Tobias Thomas as picked as the defensive player and Svetlio Hurd was named transition player of the match.
Port Angeles, 0-2 and 1-5, next plays in Port Townsend in a nonleague game Tuesday.
Sequim 3, Klahowya 0
SEQUIM — Good luck scoring on the Wolves this season.
Sequim earned its third shutout victory of the season after scoring three goals in the second half of Thursday’s Olympic League tilt.
Mitch McHugh and Martin Fonseca each found the back of the net on assists from Nick Camporini and Daniel Servin, respectively.
The other score was a Klahowya own goal.
The Wolves (2-0, 4-0) have given up just one goal all season, coming in a 2-1 win over rival Port Angeles.
They will take a week-long break before hosting Kingston on April 6.
