FOSTER — The Sequim Wolves got back to their winning ways after taking down the Foster Bulldogs 3-1 in Nisqually League boys soccer play on Wednesday, led by Casey Nagler with two goals.
Foster jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a penalty kick given up on a foul by Morgan Carl, giving him three on the season.
Nagler answered right back for the Wolves off an assist by Evan Still, sending the game into the half tied at one apiece.
Izaac Berg gave the Wolves (2-0 in league, 3-2-1 overall) the lead on an assist from Noah Brasher.
Nagler capped things off for Sequim on a goal that was assisted by goalie Josh Lindsay.
The Wolves will take on South Whidbey at home on Saturday in nonleague action.
Girls Golf Shelton 79, Port Angeles 75
SHELTON — Stephanie DuPuis won medalist honors for Port Angeles with 45 on the nine-hole course at Bayshore.
DuPuis led the Roughriders with 24 points while Lacey McHone had 19, Tess Haggerty 16, Amber Lemon nine and Robyn Gentry with seven.
The Riders, 1-1 in the Narrows League, next plays April 14 at Bremerton.
Fastpitch Wednesday Sequim 14, Eatonville 2
EATONVILLE — The Wolves” offense exploded as they picked up a Nisqually League win behind the outstanding pitching of Jessica Rosencrants.
Rosencrants gave up just three hits on 14 strikeouts and no walks in six innings pitched.
Behind Rosencrants was the Wolves’ offense, which put up 14 runs on 20 hits, led by Marquita Espinoza, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs.
Also having a great day at the plate were Hannah Yamamoto (3-for-5, two doubles), Taria Hendrickson (3-for-4, double) and Katy Heins (2-for-3, double).
Track and Field Sequim Double-dual
SEQUIM — The Sequim girls and boys track teams remained undefeated in Nisqually League action as they hosted Vashon and Orting on Thursday.
The boys had little trouble handling Vashon, beating them 128-18. Brian Savage sparked the Wolves by picking up first in the javelin (176 feet) and the 400-meter dash (55.6 seconds).
In its second dual of the day, Sequim (5-0) defeated Orting 102-43.
Jake Shearer picked up first-place finishes in the triple jump (38-5½) and the high jump (5-9).
On the girls side, the Wolves squeaked past Vashon 81-65, led by Stephanie Marcy, who picked up first place in the 800 meters (2:31.10) and the 1600 meters (5:50).
The Wolves had an easier time with Vashon, winning 113-41.
Jamie Muller picked up wins in the long jump (13-6) and the triple jump (29-1).
Behind Muller for Sequim (5-0) were Jenny Blenk (100 meters, 12.85), Summer Steenberg (pole vault, 7-10) and Erin Justice (discus, 69-5).
Wednesday Forks double-dual
FORKS — The Spartan boys split after beating Rochester 78-50 and losing to Montesano 71-61 in the Southwest Washington League meet.
Forks’ Ken Zellar led the way with first-place finishes in the 110-yard high hurdles (16.89 seconds), high jump (5 feet-10 inches) and the triple jump (38-5½).
Other top finishes behind Zellar for the Spartans were Craig Gillett (100-yard dash, 11.75) Cameron Shaner (200-yard dash, 24.33) and Pat Anderson (long jump 17-1).
The Spartan girls lost both of their meets, falling to Montesano 85-46 and just missing the win against Rochester 56-55.
Jessi Rosenbalm picked up a first place finish in the 3200 run, finishing in 15 minutes, 40.77 seconds.
Behind Rosenbalm for Forks was Coleen Case, who leaped 4 feet, 4 inches to take first in the high jump.
Port Angeles three-way
OLYMPIA — The Roughrider girls finished second in a three-way Narrows League meet against Olympia and South Kitsap on Thursday.
Picking up first place for the Roughriders were Britt Girr (javelin, 108 feet, 2 inches), Dani Weatherby (pole vault, 8-0) and Chantea Watson (400 meters, 61 seconds flat).
On the boys side, the Roughriders fell a little flat, picking up third place in the meet.
Kyle Acheson picked up a first-place finish in th 300 hurdles with a time of 44.5 seconds, followed by Dan Lucero with a first-place finish in the 3200 meters (9:45).
Lacrosse Port Angeles 13 North Kitsap 3
PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders moved to 4-0 in league play on Thursday, led by Kyler Brumbaugh with seven goals.
Behind Brumbaugh was Adam Williams, who picked up six goals on the day.
Adam Williams, Nick Haffner and Casy Hinele each picked up two assists for the Roughriders while Phil Merell finished with one.
Port Angeles will be off until April 15 when it will take on Tacoma Baptist at home.
