SPORTS: Quilcene girls basketball drops game to Mount Rainier Lutheran; other prep reports

TACOMA — Sea-Tac League powerhouse Mount Rainier Lutheran beat the short-handed Quilcene Rangers 49-25 on Saturday night.

It was the second win in a row over the Rangers for the Hawks as they beat Quilcene 46-31 on Friday night.

The Rangers were down three starters for Saturday’s game against the one-loss Hawks.

The 1B Hawks’ only loss was 49-41 in nonleague action against 1A Charles Wright Academy.

‘The Hawks are currently ranked No. 1 in the league for a reason and they certainly showed that on Saturday,” Quilcene coach Briana Weller said.

“They have a lot of experience and depth with a 16-member strong team. Our youth and inexperience was no match.”

Sammy Rae led Quilcene scorers with nine, followed by Bailey Kieffer with seven and Andrea Lara with four.

The Rangers next travel to Evergreen Lutheran tonight for their next league match-up.
