PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend swept both the boys and girls portions of its Olympic League cross country meet against Bremerton and North Mason on Wednesday at Fort Worden State Park.
Bereket Piatt won the boys event by 1 minute and 10 seconds over his closest competitor in 15 minutes, 25 seconds.
Port Townsend’s boys team tallied 26 points, North Mason 38 and Bremerton 71.
Xavier Frank was fourth for Port Townsend in 17:05 and Griffin Weir-Hoins was sixth in 17:12.
On the girls side, Port Townsend edged Bremerton 28-29. North Mason fielded just two runners for the race and could not record a team score.
Britz Grant finished second for the Redskins in 21:59 with Grace Piatt just behind her in third in 22:03.
Iree Wheeler was fifth in 23:16 for Port Townsend.
The Redskins next host the Fort Worden Invitational on Oct. 10.
Boys Tennis Port Angeles 5, Kingston 2
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles dropped the Buccaneers at home on Wednesday.
Derek Crain and Sam Beasely of the No. 2 doubles team were named players of the match by Port Angeles coach Brian Gundersen after a 6-4, 6-0 defeat of their Kingston counterparts.
“When Derek and Sam play well at the net, they are really tough to beat,” Gundersen said.
Port Angeles (6-2) hosts Bremerton on Friday.

Girls Swimming Bainbridge 105, Sequim 42
BAINBRIDGE — Sequim swam against the traditional powerhouse Bainbridge team on Tuesday.
The 200-meter freestyle relay team of Rachel Hardy, Rachel Hughes, Autumn Kessinger and Ellie Hubbard qualified for districts with a time of two minutes 14.55 seconds.
Hardy also won the 50 free by 2/100ths of a second in 27.53.
The Wolves host their first home meet today against Port Townsend.
Volleyball Crescent 3, Sequim JV 2
SEQUIM — The Loggers’ varsity team (4-1, all nonleague) won a spirited nonleague battle with the Wolves’ junior varsity Wednesday night.
Crescent won 19-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 15-12.
“It was a decent match,” Crescent coach Alex Baker said. “The kids played well.”
Mikela Williams had an outstanding match for Crescent, going a perfect 28-of-28 from the serving line with two kills and two blocks.
Senior Rachel Poats also was stellar by going 16-of-18 in serves while earning six aces. She also had 10 kills, eight blocks and two tips.
“Rachel Poats was huge for us,” Baker said.
Setter Rachel Bowen dished out 14 assists and she was 18-of-21 serving.
“Rachel Bowen set well and set the tempo for the team,” Baker said.
The Loggers will play in the Sequim tournament Saturday and then open North Olympic League play at Neah Bay on Tuesday.
