SPORTS: Port Townsend, Sequim wrestling teams split league double-dual meets

POULSBO — Port Townsend had four double winners at an Olympic League double-dual wrestling match at North Kitsap High School on Wednesday night.

The Redskins, giving up a total of eight forfeits because of a lack of competitors, still were able to split the matches.

The Redskins beat host North Kitsap 37-33 while losing to the Roughriders 54-30.

Two-time state placer Brett Johnson led the Redskins with two pins at 160 pounds.

Johnson pinned North Kitsap’s Allan Dunlap in 1:51, and he also won by fall against Port Angeles.

Also earning wins for Port Townsend were Justin Mead at 112 pounds, Addison Harper at 125 and Mitchell Harper at 130.

Addison Harper won a close 6-5 decision against Donny Stameris of North Kitsap and by forfeit against the Riders.
